WE’RE HOME FROM KOREA. Yes, we are. What a delightful time of serving the Lord! My husband spoke nineteen times in six days and I gave The Tribute To Fanny Crosby on a Saturday afternoon. WE HAD AN ABSOLUTELY LOVELY TIME IN THOSE BUSY DAYS (November 8-15, 2004) SERVING THE LORD WITH OUR KOREAN FRIENDS IN INCHEON & SEOUL. I can’t wait to tell you all about it. We were the guests of PASTOR & MRS. YOUNG JIN EUM and the SEOUL FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH in Seoul, South Korea. It took fourteen plus hours to get there, flying on their beautiful Korean Airlines. I saw the sun setting for hundreds of miles but no night in the skies for us over the international date line. Then saw the bright morning light, skipping a day, only to have it return on the flight home. We flew over Northern Canada and Alaska. I always wanted to go there! Then the Southern route down over a part of Russia, near Japan --avoiding North Korea. Am confused if we flew over China or not. (After all, I am not a navigator.) Our good friend Dr. Dongsoo Jung was my husband’s interpreter. Dr. Waite’s whole teaching on THE DEFENSE OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE AND ITS UNDERLYING TEXTS was videoed. Usually my husband tapes everything on his own tape recorder. This teaching time while in Korea, most of the time, he didn’t have a 220 converter for his 110 recorder. So, be patient for a future ordering opportunity. I’m disappointed, too.

MY HEART’S BURDEN

Before I go wild at the computer about Korea, I want to share with you a burden of my heart. I want to catch you up on some of our BFT ministry news. Every time we reprint DEFENDING THE KING JAMES BIBLE (BFT #1594-P @ + $4.00 S&H) by Dr. D. A. Waite, it costs about $9,000. We are in our ninth printing right now. WHERE ELSE CAN YOU GET A 350-PAGE BOOK FOR $12.00??? A seminary professor from the Heartland wrote the other day wondering if DEFENDING was still in print. He uses it as required reading for his classes and needed it; but, someone had told him that it was no longer in print. How wrong that was! My husband assured him that this book was still being published. WHY DON’T YOU ORDER A FEW FOR GIFTS RIGHT NOW?? Someone asked me the other day how many Defined King James Bibles we have printed. I couldn’t remember. You know me and numbers! I’m like my husband’s mother. I get them all mixed up! I asked my husband and he said, "FIFTY-ONE THOUSAND ARE IN PRINT!!" Can you believe it? My what the LORD has done!

A POST-THANKSGIVING VISITOR

A woman dropped in to see me the day after Thanksgiving. She knew nothing about our BFT ministry. Yes, she knew about our church, for that is how we met her; but the ministry we have been in for forty years--she knew nothing about!! Think of the hundreds of people who could be helped by our materials, if they only knew.

How did the subject come up? For something to do and talk about, I showed her several pictures of the printing business near Seoul, Korea, where our Defined King Jams Bible is printed. "You print a Bible?" she wondered. I went into the church room and took out the large, leather-bound Defined King James Bible from under one of the Church’s chairs (BFT #3000 genuine leather @ $35 medium or $40 large + $6.00 S&H; hardbacks $15 & $20 + $4.00 S&H). I explained the two sizes of Bibles we have. I told her that they come in either leather or hardback. She was amazed!

OUR OLDEST SON DID THE FOOTNOTES?

I told her that our oldest son D. A. Waite, Jr. did all the footnotes. "Why?" she asked. I explained that some people say they do not understand some of the difficult words in the King James Bible. So we have answered their objections.

I was amazed she didn’t know that we do more here at 900 Park Avenue than have church meetings.

Do you know how much it cost to print The Defined King James Bible? Depending on the size of the Bible and the number printed, it costs us $30,000 to $50,000. Did you know that? Guess where those publishing funds come from. YOU!! God burdens your heart and the hearts of your friends to get the Defined King James Bible or to contribute towards its printing. Yes, we print books, booklets, tracts, reports, etc. In fact, we have over 3,200 + items that you can order from us on our 800# or by mail. Just now, I asked my husband--so I could tell you--how many tapes and videos and written reports do we have; and he said, "I don’t know, Von." So you can see, he is very low key on it all.

THREE PEOPLE DO ALL THE BFT WORK?

A young man who used to be our shipper left us for Florida. For a few months down there, he worked for another Christian organization that shipped out things like we do; and he told us that particular Christian, southern organization had thirty people working for them at the time. Yet, he said that the BFT shipped out as much, or more, than the Florida group. At that time, we had two part-time and one full-time paid workers. Now we have only one full-time and one part-time. So, if your orders are delayed and you become upset, just realize we are truly a "family" ministry and we are doing our best! PRAY FOR US!

We only have one full-time family man working for us now, our son, Dan Waite, who moved here about ten or eleven years ago to help his father. You’ve probably spoken to him on the phone. I don’t know what we would do without him. Our oldest son worked for the BFT for a few years but we couldn’t pay him anymore. He did the DKJB footnotes, as well as the excellent THE DOCTORED NEW TESTAMENT (BFT #3138 @ $25.00 + $5.00 S&H). That is an English version of SCRIVENERS ANNOTATED GREEK NEW TESTAMENT. Many cannot read the Greek language but they can read THE DOCTORED NEW TESTAMENT and see where Westcott & Hort made changes in their Greek New Testament.

Another son worked part time for us from his home, helping his father with his book writing, but we couldn’t pay him anymore either. We have a part-time secretary, Barbara, in the office doing valuable work with receipts, correspondence, and tape dubbing. She has been with us seven or eight years--I forget--and is a valuable part of our ministry.

Did you know that the BFT works out of our home? So when I ask you to think about helping us financially, I am not asking for the light & heating bills, or the yard man, or my cleaning helper, or even to put clothes on my back. I’m asking for ACTUAL expenses for machines, printing, etc. & salaries for our workers. My husband and I do not take one cent from the offerings or financial gifts. Even when we are on the road, like in Korea or your church, and are given gifts, we turn it into the BIBLE FOR TODAY MINISTRY.

A BALL-PARK FIGURE

I just called downstairs to DAN and asked, "Give me a ball-park figure of what the Bible For Today owes currently for phone bills, reams of paper, the copy machine contract, UPS charges, postage expenses, etc., etc., etc." He answered, "About $5,000 or $6,000!"

One day I was telling a business man, that a certain book will cost about $12,000 to publish. "Twelve thousand dollars," he said in unbelief! Maybe you are like this friend. Maybe you have no idea the expense involved in publication. How I wish that businessman had pulled his checkbook out of his pocket and given us an offering for that book! Even $100 would have been an encouragement.

So, when I ask you if you could be a part of our ministry, I am sincerely asking you to join hand in hand with Dr. Waite financially. Of course, I have not forgotten your PRAYER SUPPORT. What would we do without it. It is most HUMBLING to read your letters, notes, & E-mails to learn that you pray for us. GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO SUPPLY OUR NEEDS BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU. We have been undergirded because of your prayers. During our heavy schedule in Korea last month, I thought about you and your prayers. I thanked God for His strength because people were praying. I really did.

Who would have thought about forty years ago, when my husband began his first radio program which he called THE BIBLE FOR TODAY, that God would lead us into such green pastures? Who would have thought that you would be our friend and be a part of this wonderful defense of the WORDS of God.

People from all over the world contact my husband. He patiently teaches them on the telephone, sometimes by letter, and always by books, tapes, videos, CD’s, and radio. If we were pleading for a missionary in another land doing the same jobs as what we do here, your heart would probably be touched. We are doing much of what some missionaries do in foreign lands. Do we have to move to another country for your heart to be burdened? ALL that you give us goes into the ministry.

Perhaps you don’t know it, but many men who are on the Bible-preaching circuit keep all the book money & offerings they collect. I am not condemning them, I just want you to know that Dr. Waite does not do that. God has provided for us individually. Dr. Waite and I have always given more to our ministry than he has ever taken. That is why we appreciate your financial gifts so very much because we know the sacrifice that is made when one gives and does not take.

Why a lady called from Canada yesterday. She heard my Just For Women radio program on THE POLITICAL BACKGROUND OF THE KINGS JAMES VERSION (JFW-57 @ $4.00+S1.00 S&H). She heard the broadcast on SHORT WAVE. I was excited to get her call. It is always encouraging to hear from a radio listener. Our radio programs cost so much that sometimes we wonder if they are worth the price. (The local station here in our area has raised its rates for Just For Woman to $70.00 for fifteen minutes. I’d already cut my programs to one fifteen-minute broadcast a week because of the expense.) Getting back to the phone call--she wanted a copy of that broadcast in written form (BFT # 3194 @ $3.00 + $1.00 S&H). She mentioned her dismay that the tiny Brethren assembly, where she worships in ONTARIO, uses any version at all. She thought FOR SURE that the Brethren would definitely use the King James Bible! I could hear the disappointment in her voice. I then explained about the scholar, Mr. Samuel P. Tregelles, who was a born-again Christian, and a Plymouth Brethren, was an advocate of the false Greek Text of Westcott and Hort. (As you remember that text is the basis for the present United Bible Society and Nestle Aland Greek Texts that is used for most of the modern "bibles" in our day. Get that booklet on Tregelles by Dr. JACK MOORMAN (BFT #3195 @ $2.00 + $1.00 S&H)! Then this same radio listener said, "IS IT YOUR HUSBAND WHO PUBLISHES The Defined King James Bible?" She was happy to hear that it was. She had received the DKJB from another Christian ministry, never having contacted the BFTs20 before. I but wonder how many thousands of people out there have been blessed by our ministry, but who have never contacted us at all. The Lord knows. TWO SERMONS FROM KOREAN TRIP READY

I had really intended to go on and on about our Korean trip but the Lord has laid our financial needs on my heart. Hope you are not too offended. WE DO HAVE TWO SERMONS READY THAT MY HUSBAND PREACHED IN SEOUL IN NOVEMBER. One was preached at the Blessed Hope Baptist Church, pastored by PASTOR LEE. The title of the sermon is "Study to be Approved By God" (2 Timothy 2:15) BFT#3215 @ $4.00 + $1.00 S&H) . The other is from Romans 12:1-2 called "Present Your Body to the Lord" (BFT#3216 @ $4.00 + $1.00 S&H) which was preached by Dr. Waite at Seoul First Baptist Church. I can’t wait to tell you all about this. Just got an E-Mail from Dr. Jung and he said he hoped to have the CD’s of the Korean Conference ready by the end of December. This is good news indeed. I know that you’ll want to hear them and that those who speak Korean will be doubly blessed to hear the whole conference in their heart language.

I have been a Christian for a long time--about sixty-seven years--and have heard many sermons taken from Revelation. Many of them have been good; but I have never heard a "verse by verse" presentation such as Dr. Waite has given these last many months. He is not a startling "Revelation" teacher. He doesn’t predict who the anti-Christ is or what the grasshoppers are. He is not a date-setter or an alarmist. HE DOESN’T MAKE UP THINGS THAT ARE NOT THERE. He just opens up the Word and teaches or brings in illustrations to help us understand. For instance, his research on frogs made my imagination envision how those evil spirits worked. His explanation of the sun was good, etc--the seals, vials, & trumpets, the angels & the serpent, & the woes. If you want fanciful ideas and speculations, don’t order the series; but if you want what the Bible says, then order them. It isn’t every preacher that will start such a series and finish it. I know you will be blessed.

If you let it, it is easy to be that way, you know. People can get you down! The Lord remains faithful. The prophet appeared to have a "burn-out"until he had a "burn-in" (Jeremiah 20:9). Jeremiah had been so hurt--physically and emotionally--by Pashur and others that he declared he would never mention the LORD anymore BUT--God’s Word was in Jeremiah’s heart as a burning fire shut up in his bones, and he was weary with forbearing, and he could not stay!!!! Isn’t that the way in Christian work? We become so weary, so hurt, so discouraged, we don’t want to "play" anymore; BUT God’s WORDS burn within us and we cannot stop doing His work in spite of ourselves!
