OBVIOUSLY IT IS DECEMBER. THAT MEANS 2005 IS ALMOST OVER. It means life has gone on as we know it for one more year. The longer I live the more I realize that I am not in charge of my years at all. Not that I ever thought I was; but sometimes I pretended to be. What about you? As my mother, Gertrude Sanborn, wrote "My times, Thy hands! Sweet peace I find in this, O Lord, and grace to meet the problems of each day" (Page 195, With Tears In My Heart). The Bible says it this way in Psalm 31:14-15: "But I trusted in Thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God, my times are in Thy hand."

I THINK OF A DEAR FRIEND WHOSE LIFE WAS SNATCHED AWAY in September. Her earthly "times" ended abruptly. It is past human understanding! How glad we were that she knew Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. How many rush from earth to Eternity without Him! Are you one of those who daily travel without Jesus? How empty your life must be. Just the day before that sad cemetery walk, my husband’s surgeon released him to carry on a normal life again. Dr. Waite had a hip replacement on August 9th. How good to be pain free! Those recovery "times" were unusual "times" for us. A husband was made well and lived to preach again. A friend died and went on to Glory to sit at Jesus’ feet. "So I put my hand in Thine, O God my Father; and holding thus will walk my brief and earthly way!"

DR. WAITE SAYS THAT WE HERE AT 900 PARK AVENUE IN COLLINGSWOOD, NJ (08108) ARE A "WAY STATION." Folk come for a season. They learn. They leave. We go on. How good to have you a part of our ministry. I’VE JUST FINISHED A SERIES OF SEVEN RADIO PROGRAMS (two tapes) ON THE DA VINCI CODE HERESY (JFW/71-72 @$7.00 + S&H) I read Dan Brown’s novel to see for myself his theory that Jesus did not shed his blood for sinners on the Cross of Calvary but rather ran off with Mary Magdalene, his chief disciple, to France where He fathered a child named Sarah. It is blasphemy.

THIS YEAR I PRAISE GOD FOR THREE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN--darling little people, fresh, and precious--Breana, Timothy, & Richard Kaleb. Grandson Jake and his bride Amber were married in July--a beautiful "time" of rejoicing. Our Marine grandson returned safely from Iraq in September. He got home in time for the birth of his son who arrived on Great Uncle Dan’s birthday. Our daughter and son-in-law visited us in November. Reggie had not been in Collingswood for years. A lovely "time" with autumn leaves and joy of family. It’s fun to watch their Kristen, our TV journalist-granddaughter, do her news stories via my computer’s Internet! Our sons & their wives rejoice in answered prayer. God’s mercies to them bless our hearts, too. That’s how it is when one has grown children. Spending the Thanksgiving week-end with adult children brings a realization that Dr. Waite and I are the elders in our clan. We are moving up on life’s departure platform. "My times so small they seem as I compare Thy hands which wrote the Laws and shook the Mountain."

HOW HAPPY I AM THAT GERTRUDE G. SANBORN’S POEMS ARE IN A BOOK--over 400 poems treasured together! Both she and Daddy have been "with the Lord" since 1988. With Tears In My Heart is a book to cherish! The authors suggest "perpetuation" for "preservation." My husband says that which is "perpetuated" is not necessarily "preserved."
