Purpose: To inform and warn God's people of religious,
social, and political events in today's world.
Sunday Life- 13 February 2005
(Edited by DCB) In 1982 the number of marriages performed by civil
celebrants was 39%. Today in 2005, that percentage is now "55 percent."
Editor’s Comment: This should not really
surprise us as the world becomes more secular. Sadly many who are married
in some of these building called a church have never heard a clear
presentation of the gospel and are without "…hope, and without God in the
world." Sun-Herald 13 February 2005 CHURCH CHIEF BREAKS RANKS ON
ABORTION (Edited by DCB) AUSTRALIA "The head of the Uniting Church in
Australia believes there is no need to reopen the abortion debate, saying
current laws allow women the space they need for an appropriate decision."
Drayton said there need to be "advocating for the needs of women as well
as the unborn child." He did go on to say "We want to say that all human
life is sacred, human beings are made in the image of God."
Editor’s Comment: These people certainly know
how to speak double talk! Romans 3:15 "Their feet are swift to shed
blood."
Sun-Herald 13 February 2005 EXCORCISM ALIVE AND WELL
AS PRIESTS HELP THE HAUNTED (Edited by DCB) AUSTRALIA "Sharing your
home with ghosts and not sure who to call? Try the Anglican Church." When
a homeowner becomes convinced thir home is haunted they "are calling on
priests to help them banish troubled spirits. And priests are
obliging-with holy water and prayer." The Dean of Newcastle said "the
church had a long history of providing rites and ceremonies for blessings
or exorcisms, and the church in Britain often appointed a senior priest as
resident exorcist."
Editor’s Comment: Titus 1:16 "They profess that
they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and
disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate."
The Daily Telegraph 14 February 2005 LAST FATIMA
WITNESS DIES (Edited by DCB) "LUCIA de Jesus dos Santos, the last
survivor of three children to whom the Virgin Mary is said to have
appeared at Fatima in central Portugal, has died, aged 97." She is said to
be "one of the women to have most influenced Catholicism in the 20th
century."
Editor’s Comment: Revelation 19:2 "For true and
righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did
corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his
servants at her hand."
Falwell Confidential 11 February 2005 FORMER MUSLIM
BECOMES DEAN OF LIBERTY BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY (Edited by DCB)
"On February 4…Dr. Ergun Caner, a converted Sunni Muslim and son of an
ulema (Muslim scholar), was to be the first former Muslim to become the
dean of an evangelical seminary in the United States. In fact, he will
become dean of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary on the campus of
Liberty University, the school I founded in 1971." This announcement was
made when the present dean at Liberty Theological Seminary announced "…he
was accepting the role of president at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn."
Editor’s Comment: The same email said "Dr. Caner
taught for two years at The Criswell College" in Dallas. Criswell College
of course is a SBC school as is Liberty. Tennessee Temple is supposed to
be an independent Baptist school. Do the independent Baptists no longer
understand why they are independent?
Dubbo Daily Liberal 28 January 2005 PRIEST BACKS
CALL TO CHANGE MARRIAGE RULE (Edited by DCB) "Dubbo's Catholic parish
priest Father Paul Devitt has supported a call by the Australian National
Council of Priests (NCP) to allow the clergy to marry. Fr Devitt said he
has made a personal commitment to celibacy but agreed with the NCP that it
shouldn't be mandatory."
Devitt also said that "Celibacy has its place in the
church but I don't believe it should be compulsory." Devitt said the issue
of celibacy "was important but added that it wasn't the major problem
facing the Catholic Church. It's time the church changed its views on a
number of issues."
Editor’s Comment: 1 Timothy 4: 1-3 "Now the
Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from
the faith…Forbidding to marry…" The Vatican organization is a den of
apostasy whether its priests are allowed to marry or not.
The Daily Telegraph 22 February 2005 NAVY ENCOURAGES
GAY SAILORS (Edited by DCB) "THE British navy said today it had joined
a scheme to encourage recruitment of gays and lesbians, while also helping
those on board feel happier about revealing their sexuality.
The Royal Navy will work with the gay-rights group
Stonewall, which runs the program, to promote equal working conditions for
lesbians, gays and bisexuals. Under the deal, Stonewall will also offer
advice on how to recruit potential homosexual sailors through the
so-called pink press. The Diversity Champions Program - which has about 90
other members including companies such as IBM and the supermarket chain J
Sainsbury as well as government departments such as the Foreign Office -
helps employers to create a comfortable environment for homosexual staff."
Editor’s Comment: Romans 1: 26, 27 "For this
cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did
change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise
also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust
one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and
receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."
Yours against apostasy and for
Biblical Truth,
David C. Bennett, D. Min., Titus 2:13
