Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, held the Australia 2020 Summit. The
government and the media both promoted the summit, as “some of the best and
brightest brains from across the country to tackle the long term challenges
confronting Australia’s future.”
http://www.australia2020.gov.au/docs/2020_participants_alphabetical.pdf
One of those best and brightest brains included “Ms Elena Adriana Jeffreys”
of the Scarlet Alliance. The Scarlet Alliance is an alliance of prostitutes
and unbelievably, they have their own web site,
http://www.scarletalliance.org.au/ . If the government considers those
selling immorality (and they must, for they invited her) as our best and
brightest we are in deep trouble!

KAY GOLDSWORTHY IS ANGLICAN CHURCH'S FIRST WOMAN BISHOP 23 May 232008
(Edited by DCB) Well, it was bound to happen sometime and it did Thursday
night 22 may 2008 in Perth, Western Australia. Kay Goldsworthy, a married
woman of twenty years and mother of twin boys, became “Australia’s first
woman bishop”. “Conspicuous in their absence for the two-hour ceremony were
the head of the Sydney diocese, Archbishop Peter Jensen, and his brother
Phillip Jensen, the dean of Sydney.”
Editor’s
Comment: It does not really matter what Scripture says to those approving
this action, but Scripture does say in 1Timothy 3:2 “A bishop then must be
blameless, the husband of one wife…” but then again that is only the
Bible.

PARENTS UPROAR AT P&C OVER NUDE TEACHER LYNNE TZIOLAS 21 May 2008 (Edited by
DCB) – One would think parents would be outraged if the teacher of their
child appeared nude with her husband “…in a Cleo magazine sealed section
titled ‘Buck naked couples talk about their sex lives’”. However, this is
not the case here. “Parents and students are circulating petitions with
hundreds of names calling on the Department of Education and Training to
reverse its decision” of standing down the teacher with full pay and
“…departmental officers carry out an investigation.” One would not think an
investigation would take too long as the photos were in a magazine anyone
can purchase from a newsagent!
Of course,
there are those who say, “…her personal life should remain her personal
life, it's nothing to do with the kids.” That is not true for she put her
personal life in a magazine for all to see and it is therefore no longer
personal! This is just another reason why Christians should preferably home
school their children and not send them to government (public) schools.

http://www.baptistpress.com/BPnews.asp?ID=28013 May 8, 2008 WALLACE,
EHRMAN DEBATE N.T. RELIABILITY (Edited by DCB) Daniel Wallace professor of
New Testament at Dallas Seminary says there is “Abundant evidence for the
reliability of the New Testament…found in thousands of manuscripts, produced
between the second and 14th centuries.” Wallace was “one of six speakers at
New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary's annual Greer-Heard
Point-Counterpoint Forum.” One of the other speakers was “…New Testament
scholar Bart Ehrman, a self-described agnostic and professor of religious
studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.” Ehrman agreed
there were thousands of manuscripts “but said the evidence for a reliable
text is less convincing.” Ehrman said, “…more than 90 percent of the New
Testament manuscripts date from the eighth century, 700 years after the
originals were composed.” Dallas Seminary’s Professor Wallace “…pointed to
two attitudes that he avoids when he approaches the text: absolute certainty
and total despair.”
It is
interesting, that even though the King James Bible’s underlying Greek Text
uses the majority of those manuscripts, which Dr. Wallace says are,
“evidence for the reliability of the New Testament”, he believes that Text
is “vastly inferior to that of modern translations” (http://www.bible.org/page.php?page_id=1824).
The modern translations he prefers use a Text based on a minority of
manuscript evidence. Personally, I do not always believe the
professors or scholars.
HOLY WATER AIMS TO
QUENCH THIRST OF BODY AND SOUL 3 May 2008 (Edited by DCB) Two Flordia
bussinessmen are producing “Spiritual Water” which “is a faith-based product
that aims to make consumers feel good when they drink it.” The instruction on
the bottle say “Read the Prayer ... / Drink the Water . . . / Believe in God! /
Believe in Yourself!” There are eleven bottles in the collection and they “…bear
prayers and impressively detailed images of Jesus Christ, St. Michael and the
Virgin Mary.”
Then there is
the “California-based Holy Drinking Water” which “offers a $1.49 half-liter
that has been blessed in a warehouse by a priest.” The purpose of this drink
“…is designed to promote good behavior.”
Editor’s
Comment: John 4: 13, 14 “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever
drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever
drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life.”
