Purpose: To inform and warn God's people of religious, social, and political events in today's world.

The Berean Call-EMAIL 24 June 2005 "A small Presbyterian church in Cincinnati completed the first month of a three-month course called ‘The Gospel According to Star Wars’ just as the latest installment opened in theaters (Pinsky, The Orlando Sentinel, June 2, 2005)."

Editor’s Comment: The contemporary church is in step with the world but out of step with God’s Word. Some whom I assume would consider themselves at least conservative have written me and argue for the legitimacy of missionaries teaching dance on the field claiming these missionaries are innovative in their methods of evangelism. Perhaps another "conservative" will read what this church in Cincinnati is doing and will agree with them but 2 Timothy 4:2 is still in the Bible, King James Bible anyway, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."

"If you understand that faith is a matter of mind as well as heart, and that taking the Bible seriously means it cannot always be taken literally...If you know that God's love embraces all persons equally, no matter their gender, race, or sexual identity... If, for you, diversity, tolerance, and inclusivity are strengths to be taught… If you believe that the Christ calls us to be nothing less than global citizens, that the social expression of love is justice, and that spiritual concerns are inseparable from commitment to the natural world... If you've wished for a more open and embracing community of faith to nurture your spirit and raise your children, and haven't yet found a place of belonging... then we warmly invite you to any of the congregations listed on this page."

Editor’s Comment: Some of the churches mentioned on this web site are United Methodist, Metropolitan Community, United Church of Christ and a Baptist Church. 2 Timothy 2:19 "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

Agape Press 24 June, 2005 ACLU NOW DEFENDS POLYGAMY, FURTHER ERODING TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE – "In comments at an Ivy League school, the president of the American Civil Liberties Union has indicated that among the ‘fundamental rights’ of people is the right to polygamous relationships -- and that the ACLU has defended and will continue to defend that right." This speech was made at Yale University "earlier this year" by "ACLU president Nadine Strossen." "Strossen has been president of the ACLU since 1991 and is also an acting professor of law at New York Law School and the author of the book, Defending Pornography: Free Speech, Sex & the Fight for Women's Rights (Scriber)."

Editor’s Comment: Genesis 2: 24 "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife (singular): and they shall be one flesh." Des Moines Register 29 June 2005 People/Places LIP BALMS WITH A LIQUOR TWIST – "Raining Rose's lip balms may taste like passion-fruit rum and raspberry vodka, but the only buzz is word-of-mouth about new flavors of booze. Raining Rose, the Cedar Rapids maker of natural body-care products, is turning out private-label liquor-flavored lip balms for Malibu rum and Smirnoff vodka. These and other companies use the balms to promote mango rum, citrus-twist vodka and other flavors." Chuck Hammond, who owns the company, said "none of the lip-smackers contains alcohol." They do not target children according to Hammond but are "given away in bars and on spring-break beaches across the world." Douglas Gentile an assistant professor of psychology at Iowa State University said "advertising products make a greater impact on children than many adults realize. A study he completed of seventh- to 12th-graders showed students had a brand preference for beer even though they had never tasted it." He went on to say that the lip balms "probably aren't powerful enough to make kids start drinking." but because "Alcohol is an acquired taste" he believes the lip balms could facilitate a young person to overcome one of the biggest barriers to drinking alcoholic beverages which is "taste." Editor’s Comment: 1Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." The devil is out to get our children! Agape Press 29 June, 2005 CANADA ON VERGE OF LEGALIZING SAME-SEX 'MARRIAGE' – June 28 Canada’s House of Commons voted 158-133 to approve same-sex marriages." "All that remains now is for the Canadian Senate to review the legislation, but that is largely considered a formality."

Psalm 73:27 "For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish…" Romans 13: 3a "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil…"
