WHAT IS MARRIAGE? I recently received a packet from the Australian
Attorney-General’s Department explaining some changes the Government has
made in the marriage celebrants reporting to the government plus telling
the celebrants they are now required to take five hours of professional
development each year. That aside what was interesting to me was the
question WHAT IS MARRIAGE? and the statement that "Marriage, according to
Australian law, is the union of a man and a woman, to the exclusion of all
others, voluntarily entered into for life." I applaud that very public
statement! Our Australian Prime Minister John Howard has even stated that
the institution of traditional marriage is "the bedrock institutions of
our society."
I am glad our Prime Minister has taken this stand but it is only a
matter of time before the enemies of God and the home bring the issue of
Sodomites marrying onto the Australian national agenda. Right now is not a
time for us to be sitting on our hands and saying nothing concerning this
issue of Sodomites and their desire for marriage. Before it does become a
national issue we need to be (in a Biblical, loving, calm but firm manner)
speaking out through the means open to us. For many that is a letter to
the editor in the local paper. I have spoken on the issue answering a
listener’s letter on our Sunday radio programme.
The Scriptures are not silent on the issue of Sodomy, Romans 1: 26 – 27
"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their
women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And
likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in
their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is
unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which
was meet." God made in the beginning a man and a woman (not a man and man
or a woman and woman) for fellowship and procreation. The very fist book
of the Bible says "So God created man in his own image, in the image of
God created he him; male and female created he them." Genesis 1:27. Then
in the first book of the New Testament we read the words of our Saviour
saying "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he
which made them at the beginning made them male and female." Matthew 19:4.
Sadly most have not read what the Scriptures say on the subject and many
of those who have read the Scriptures do not care! They have an agenda and
they are going to see it through no matter what the Bible says.
Note Daniel 6: 10 "Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he
went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward
Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and
gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime." See those words
"aforetime." Daniel was praying before the law was passed. We preachers
should be praying, writing and preaching Scriptural absolute truth about
this awful sin of Sodomy before the issue gets as far as it has in Canada.
Yours against apostasy and for Biblical truth,
