www.christianpost.com 14 September 2005 RICK WARREN
SPEAKS ABOUT PURPOSE AT UNITED NATIONS (Edited by DCB) "NEW YORK –
After weeks of bitter debate shed many of U.N. Secretary General Kofi
Annan's most ambitious goals to tackle poverty and reform the United
Nations, reactions to the hard fought compromise text for the U.N. World
summit declaration ranged from measured satisfaction to downright
disappointment. Amid thick tensions present earlier yesterday,
‘Purpose-Driven’ Pastor Rick Warren told U.N. dignitaries and delegates to
lay aside their worries for a moment and focus on the meaning of
existence." Warren was speaking to "…an interfaith prayer breakfast on the
morning of Sept. 13…" when he "…made no claims to know everything but
comforted the delegates by telling them to trust God." He told them that
"Whenever you get stressed out just remember God is God, and you're not."
"At the end of the two-hour breakfast, Warren prayed for the Spirit of God
to lead each person in their work. ‘It doesn't matter how much you
accomplish," said Warren. "If at the end of the day you don't know God a
little bit more and you don't love God a little bit more, you have just
wasted your day.’"
Editor’s Comment: Luke 6:26 "Woe unto you, when
all men shall speak well of you!"
Daily Telegraph 21 September 2005- US EASES HAMAS
OPPOSITION (Edited by DCB) "THE United States signalled today an
easing of opposition to the participation of the militant group Hamas in
Palestinian elections and urged Israel to cooperate in organising the
polls." The US Secretary of State said she believes that "…we have to give
the Palestinians some room for the evolution of their political process."
However, "Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has threatened to withhold
all cooperation in election preparations if Hamas…is allowed to run."
Editor’s Comment: Esther 3:10 "And the king took
his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the
Agagite, the Jews' enemy."
www.Ynetnews.com HAMAS GUNMEN PARADE IN GAZA 19
September 2005 (Edited by DCB) – After Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza
"Thousands of Hamas terrorists paraded with weapons through the streets of
Gaza City on Sunday in the group's largest show of force in years, defying
Palestinian efforts to ban public arms displays." "Hamas leaders vowed to
continue fighting Israel as tens of thousands cheered and waved the
group's green flags and masked gunmen hoisted assault rifles, rockets and
anti-tank missiles. " ‘We will not rest and will not abandon the path of
Jihad and martyrdom as long as one inch of our land remained in the hands
of the Jews,’ said Raed Saed, a senior Hamas leader in Gaza City, using
the Arabic term for holy war. ‘We are celebrating our victory in Gaza and
now we are headed toward Jerusalem, Nablus, Akko, Haifa, the Galilee and
all of Palestine,’ he said."
Editor’s Comment: Esther 8: 1, 2 "On that day did
the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the
queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was
unto her. And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman,
and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of
Haman."

BREATHING SPACE (Edited by DCB). This is from the Uniting Church in
Australia web site and shows how far into apostasy this denomination has
gone. "Breathing in the deep breath of God, Breathing out God’s renewing
breath into the world. Many of us struggle through the working week and
long for a weekend in which to find space and take stock of our spiritual
side. The National Assembly’s Gospel and Gender Working Group is offering
‘A Breathing Space’ as an opportunity to re-connect with the feminine face
of God."
www.christianpost.com PENNSYLVANIA SCHOOL DISTRICT
TO DEFEND POLICY ON INTELLIGENT DESIGN (Edited by DCB) "The Dover Area
School district in Pennsylvania will soon defend its policy to require
ninth grade students to hear a short statement about ‘intelligent design’
before biology lessons on evolution." "The school adopted the policy in
October 2004, after which teachers were required to read a statement that
says intelligent design is different that Darwin’s theory of evolution and
refers students to a text book on intelligent design to get more in
formation." " ‘All the Dover school board did was allow students to get a
glimpse of a controversy that is really boiling over in the scientific
community,’ said Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the
Thomas More Law Center, which is defending the school district, according
to the Associated Press." "The civil trial is set to take place on Sept.
26 and will only be the latest chapter in a long-running legal debate over
the teaching of evolution in public schools."
Editor’s Comment: Psalm 8:3 "When I consider thy
heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast
ordained." Psalm 19: 1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the
firmament sheweth his handywork." Psalm 14:1 "The fool hath said in his
heart, There is no God."
Dubbo Daily Liberal 12 September 2005 BOOMERS HIT
THEIR 50S BUT STILL KIDS AT HEART (Edited by DCB) "Hedonism is alive
and well among Australia's free-spirited over-50s, according to a new
report. And while 50-somethings are as liberal and free-spirited as they
were in the 1970s, the nation's 20-somethings are more conservative than
their parents were at their age, and in some cases even now, in matters of
drugs, sex and divorce. The 2005 Clemenger Report, titled Tomorrow's
Parents Today, is a longitudinal study spanning four decades of
Australians." "Among the findings, only 27 per cent of young people today
thought marijuana should be legalised, compared with almost 40 per cent of
yesterday's young people. Almost a quarter believed prostitution should be
legalised, as opposed to 60 per cent of their parents when asked in 1978."
Clemenger’s managing director said "Today's parents are the generation who
grew older without growing up, while their children are those who have
grown up, without growing older."
Editor’s Comments: Titus 2: 2, 3 "That the aged
men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness…"

TENSE OVER GERMAN BIBLE REVISION 14 September 2005 (Edited by DCB)
"German Protestants have rejected a joint project to revise the standard
German translation of the Bible with the Roman Catholic Church last
Thursday, furthering tensions between Protestants and Catholics." The
dispute "…was provoked as the Vatican intended to revise the standard
German Bible according to its official directive. Despite Protestants’
favor for original Biblical texts in ancient Hebrew and Greek, the Vatican
requires the revision to conform to a Latin translation – traditionally
the official language of reference in Catholicism." "German Catholics and
Protestants produced the current standard German Bible in the 1980s and
have long used it in ecumenical services." The Frankfurter Allgemeine
Zeitung Daily, "defended Protestants, saying they had made concessions to
Catholics for years in the Bible project and could no longer let
themselves be ‘dictated to by Rome.’"
Editor’s Comment: Once the door of compromise is
opened with Rome there is no shutting it! Ian Paisley said in Protestant
Heritage Part I – Its Foundation that "Let us not be ignorant of Rome’s
devices. She fears the Word of God; hence her determined efforts to
destroy its circulation and to discredit its eternal truths." If the Roman
Church cannot halt the distribution of the Scriptures she will seek the
corruption of the Scriptures. The Dean Burgon Society’s Statement on the
Bible aptly says among other things that "We believe that the Texts which
are the closest to the original autographs of the Bible are the
Traditional Masoretic Hebrew Text for the Old Testament, and the
traditional Greek Text for the New Testament underlying the King James
Version (as found in "The Greek Text Underlying The English Authorized
Version of 1611")." and that "God Intended That His Word be Translated
Accurately in All Languages. Without question, God intended that His Word
be translated accurately into all languages to fulfill the Great
Commission to preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15)." This will
not be done through ecumenical Bible Societies!
