http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2006/octoberweb-only/143-32.0.html HOW THE CHARACTER OF RELIGION IN AMERICA HAS CHANGED SINCE THE FOUNDING OF CHRISTIANITY TODAY (Edited by DCB) Some disturbing themes that have emerged in the American religious landscape since the New Evangelical Christianity Today magazine was begun in 1957 are: (1) "The glaring lack of knowledge about the Bible, basic doctrines…" (2) "Inconsistencies of belief. For example, evangelical Christians occasionally express belief in New Age practices" and (3) "Those who say the Bible is the Word of God and should be taken literally, word for word." In "1963" it was "65%" and in "2006" it had gone down to "28%"!

Editor’s Comment: Not one of these statistics should surprise anyone who discerns the times in which we live. The church growth movement is partially responsible for the lack of Bible knowledge and doctrine. It also should come as no surprise that "evangelical Christians occasionally express belief in New Age practices" when yoga and other forms of eastern meditation are being taught in so many "Christian" denominations. As for the percentage of those who believe the Bible should be taken literally word for word plummeting, this is no new revelation when you see preachers chopping and changing versions every few years and each version different from the other. These preachers in reality deny Bible preservation so they are still searching for the Word and Words of God and therefore their people are as well. 1Thessalonians 2:13 "...when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Bird was home schooled and a graduate of Pensacola Christian College. Her lawyer "argued that she was a naive young woman, brought up in a cloistered Christian environment, who succumbed to the advances of a boy at about her same level of social maturity."

The Church of Scotland's General Assembly earlier this year narrowly defeated a move to ban such ceremonies and voted in favour of new rules making clear ministers were not committing a disciplinary offence if they chose to bless gay couples. But the new rules must now be endorsed at grassroots level throughout Scotland. Edinburgh presbytery voted by 126 to 76 to support the Assembly decision." A former Edinburgh University chaplain who has already "conducted a blessing

for two gay men in Edinburgh's Phoenix bar two years ago" said it was vital that "ministers retained the freedom to act in a pastoral way as they judged best."

They were told by City of Chula Vista officials last December that they could not perform their dance routine at the Chula Vista Holiday Festival because of the Christian message on their t-shirts and the Christian theme of their music. The City agreed to entry of the consent decree which requires it to provide First Amendment training on an annual basis to its police officers and all City employees who are classified as mid-managers and above. The consent decree also requires the City to pay a total of Thirty One Thousand Dollars ($31,000). The court declared that the girls’ rights under the Establishment Clause, Free Exercise Clause, Free Speech Clause, and the Equal Protection Clause were violated." The girls at the time ranged in age from eight to twelve years old. They were a "Christian hip hop dance troupe" known as the "Jesus Christ Dancers". On the front of their black T-shirts were the words "Jesus Christ Dancers". "A recreation supervisor for the City told the dance troupe that they could not perform because of their t-shirts and Christian themed music." The girls were represented by the Center for Law & Policy (CLP). The CLP lawyer said the outcome was a "very good result."

Editor’s Comment: I am all for the First Amendment being upheld but if I remember correctly most of the opposition the apostles and the early church met was due to their preaching and not for their dancing. No matter what the new evangelical might say drama and dance were not a part of the early Bible believing churches! Acts 5: 40- 42 "…and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ."

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,20671467-5001021,00.html SHEIK STANDS DOWN 31 October 2006 (Edited by DCB) "CONTROVERSIAL Muslim cleric Sheik Taj el-Dene Elhilaly" has "stepped down temporarily from his post after being admitted to hospital with chest pains." The Sheik had upset many by comparing women who were the victims of rape as uncovered meat. In spite of his comments the New South Wales State Government refuses to "cut taxpayer grants worth up to $200,000 a year to Lakemba mosque".

Editor’s Comment: Psalm 59:7 "Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?"
