Purpose: To inform and warn God's people of religious, social, and
political events in today's world.

Editorial by DCB: Christmas is just around the corner and stores are
busy with shoppers. With this frantic Christmas hustle bustle fresh in
mind I then received the Christmas 2002 newsletter from our local member
in Federal Parliament. In the newsletter is a list of "funding grants" the
Federal government has made in the past year in his electorate. Two grants
went to Catholic schools. Trundle’s St. Patrick’s received from the
Federal Santa Claus $266,767. Red Bend Catholic College in Forbes received
$549,155 from Santa Claus. That is a total of $815,922 taxpayer dollars
going to Catholic education just in this electorate! How much of YOUR tax
dollars are spent in similar ways Australia wide? As a Bible Believing
Baptist I disagree with the giving of tax dollars for Roman Catholic
education. In fact I am against tax dollars funding the socialist
organization known as public education as well. If the Roman Catholic
Organization wants to educate children don’t ask for Baptist or anyone
else’s money through government taxing.
The Federal member’s report continues with Community Services having
received $8.2 million (yes, you read that right, $8.2 million) for the
Rural Financial Counseling programme. Under the heading of Suicide
Prevention there was $195,000 given to the Forbes Yoorana Gunya Family
Violence Healing (whatever that might be). I cannot mention all the
organizations named for lack of space but the Federal member ends his list
with "Just to name a few." Can you imagine there are MORE "interest
groups" receiving YOUR tax dollars! No wonder taxes are so high! I heard
Illinois Pastor Ed De Witt say "And, what about the phrase, public money.
There ain’t no such animal. It’s all private money which has been
confiscated by the Government for taxes!" Isn’t that the truth?!
Just a few weeks ago the Federal Government said it was "giving" $4.2
billion to the Australian car industry! Let us hope money is all the
Government wants to do for the car industry. If the Government begins to
dictate to the car manufacturers how to make the cars then there will
surely be a higher demand for imported cars! The Soviet Union is an
example of government interference in manufacturing and the lack of
quality of the products produced. This is nothing but a Santa Claus
mentality by government giving your tax dollars in subsidies to various
interest groups.
All the money the Federal or State Governments have comes from the tax
payer! Where do special interest groups and individuals think Government
gets the money it so freely gives away? Government never "gives" without
first taking from someone? Somebody has to pay the bill! There is no free
lunch.
In this AIB issue there is another article illustrating the Big Brother
mentality. If there is a problem, Big Brother can fix it with more money
which is by the way your money. The 2nd article deals with tax
dollars paying a convicted child sex offender "for being deprived of his
liberty, mental suffering and humiliation." The last article concerns a
local council and the building of an Islamic house of prayer.
Romans 13:11 "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to
awake out of sleep."
The responsibility for government is stated in Romans: 13: 1-6 "Let
every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of
God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth
the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall
receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good
works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that
which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the
minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be
afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of
God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye
must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers,
attending continually upon this very thing."

Sydney Morning Herald 19 December, 2002 (SMH hereafter) $1BN PLEDGE TO
FIX CHILD PROTECTION OVER 5 YEARS
"The Department of Community Services will receive an extra $1 billion
funding over five years under a new package to address skyrocketing child
abuse and neglect cases."
"The non-government sector will get more funding in return for an
expansion in care provided to children who cannot live with or who have
been removed from their families."
"Recurrent funding to DOCS is about $640 million a year and will rise
to $1.063 billion by 2007. The extra $1 billion over five years will be
divided into:
An extra $412 million to pay for 875 frontline case workers, on top of
the 130 already announced by the Government this year.
$400 million to oversee children in out-of-home care, helping
non-government organisations such as Burnside explore and set up new types
of accommodation and care for children removed from their families.
$150 million for early intervention and family services, including
home visitors for families at risk, school-based community centres, family
workers, supported playgrounds and mobile early childhood services for
rural families.
$20 million in extra support for frontline workers, including a new
client information system and data-handling system and specialist
psychological and legal staff."
Community Services Minister said "that the number of reports of
suspected child abuse had ballooned, from 33,000 in 1994/95 to 160,000
this year."
The minister went on to say "The reason for the increasing numbers of
abuse reports were varied and complex, including greater community
awareness of issues such as neglect, a higher incidence of domestic
violence and burgeoning drug and alcohol problems."
"The secretary of the Public Service Association, Maurie O'Sullivan,
welcomed the new funding package. ‘I don't care whether its 100 days
before an election, one day before an election or a day after, the facts
are that we are delighted about this funding, delighted.’"
Editor’s Comment: A state government election is near and the money is
flowing. This is the Big Brother mentality. Government has the answer and
the tax payer has the money. More money thrown at a problem will surely
take care of the problem won’t it?
Psalm 119:9 "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking
heed thereto according to thy word."
SMH 19 December 2002 PEDOPHILE SUES OVER DETENTION
"A pedophile was awarded $116,000 yesterday after successfully suing
the Minister for Immigration, Philip Ruddock, for wrongfully detaining him
at Villawood detention centre and Silverwater Jail.
The District Court was told British-born Graham Ernest Taylor, 43,
suffered post traumatic stress disorder and depression as a result of
being detained over 10 months in 1999 and 2000.
Taylor migrated from Britain 32 years ago on an assisted migration
scheme, eventually settling in Gunnedah.
He has never taken out Australian citizenship but since 1994 he was
deemed holder of a transitional (permanent) visa, which allowed him to
remain in Australia indefinitely.
In 1996 he was jailed for 3 years for child sex offences. Following his
release he was informed by the Department of Immigration that he was
liable for visa cancellation and would have to return to Britain.
He was initially housed at Villawood but later transferred to
Silverwater Jail due to his history of child sex offences."
It is alleged Taylor "spent time in a holding cell with inmates, had
his hands tied behind his back and a pillowcase placed over his head by a
prison officer and was subjected to strip searches and threats."
The Judge said Taylor "was entitled to compensation" totaling "$110,000
in general damages for being deprived of his liberty, mental suffering and
humiliation."
The Judge went on to say that "Despite the fact that he is a person of
bad character ... he is entitled to compensation for the extended periods
of loss of liberty during which he suffered deprivations."
Editor’s Comment: Job 12:17 "He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and
maketh the judges fools."
SMH 19 December, 2002 - COUNCIL FACES COURT AFTER REJECTING MUSLIM
CENTRE
"A Sydney council will be forced to defend in court its refusal of a
development application for a Muslim prayer centre.
Baulkham Hills Shire Council denies its decision to ignore the advice
of its own planners and reject a development application to build the
three halls and parking for 62 cars in Annangrove was racially motivated.
Applicant Abbas Aly said the ‘extraordinary’ decision had left him with
no option but to lodge an appeal in the NSW Land and Environment Court."
"Buoyed by vocal resident opposition, council voted 10-2 to reject the
application on five grounds.
"A motion of the deputy mayor, Mike Blair, said that the application
had failed to meet objectives of rural zoning, was incomplete, was not in
accordance with ‘the shared beliefs, customs and values of the local
community’ and, if approved, would lead to changes in the character and
amenity of the area."
"The council received 5170 submissions objecting to the development and
the 11 in support. These had come from 532 households in the shire."
However, "The council's own legal advice said the volume of local
opposition was insufficient grounds in itself to reject the application."
"Mr Aly said the court appeal would be costly, but that it was a matter
of principle." He went on to say that "It's a private project by my family
to try to help the community so we will have to figure ourselves how to
bear the costs. It's not a burden I want to share with the [wider Muslim]
community."
Editor’s Comment: In surfing the web I once saw where several Islamic
organizations received Big Brother funding here in Australia. I wonder if
any of Big Brother’s money will eventually find its way in helping this
appeal.
Yours against apostasy and for Biblical Truth,
