Standing unashamedly for the King James Bible 7 February 2003 TEXTBOOKS SAID TO 'HIDE' PROBLEMS WITH ISLAM (Edited by DCB)

The American Textbook Council released a review of seven text books on world history saying "World history textbooks in U.S. classrooms sanitize the problems of Islam when compared to how they often treat Western civilization."

The American Textbook Council said the "rosy treatment of Islam may arise from the lobbying of the Council on Islamic Education on national publishers."

The 35 page study said "Subjects such as jihad and the advocacy of violence among militant Islamists to attain worldly ends, the imposition of [Shariah] law, the record of Muslim enslavement, and the brutal subjection of women are glossed over."

In contrast textbooks are very open "over such events of Western history as the Crusades, the Inquisition, slavery, imperialism, Christian fundamentalism and women's suffrage."

"Many topics in history textbooks are reduced to a few paragraphs and require elaboration by teachers or supplementary materials. But Islam is so exotic that a few textbook sentences can have an inordinate impact." Gilbert Sewall said in an interview.

The Council began "a review of world history textbooks in 2001, but issued this ‘preliminary report’ on Islam's treatment because of its importance for students in an age of terrorism and new global tensions."

Editor’s Comment: "WE WOULD RATHER DO BUSINESS WITH 1000 ARAB TERRORISTS THAN WITH A SINGLE JEW" This sign was prominently displayed in the window of a business in Philadelphia. Most would be outraged at the thought of such an inflammatory statement... One would think that anti-hate groups from all across the country would be marching on this business... And that the National Guard might have to be called to keep the angry crowds back... But, perhaps in these stressful times one might be tempted to let the proprietors simply make their statement... We are a society who holds Freedom of Speech as perhaps our greatest liberty... And after all it is just a sign... You may be asking what business would dare post such a sign. Worthy News 24 January 2003 PHILIPPINE MISSIONARY MURDERED (Edited by DCB)

"Washington D.C. (Christian Aid) -- A Philippine missionary working among minority groups on Mindanao Island was shot and murdered on January 17."

The missionary was first shot in the chest then point blank in the head with a .45 caliber pistol. "The missionary died instantly.

The killer, though still unidentified, apparently belonged to a militant Muslim sect."

Editor’s Comment: 1Jo 3:13 "Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you."

Des Moines Register (DMR hereafter) 17 February 2003 DIOCESE PRAISED FOR ACTION ON ALLEGED MISCONDUCT

"Allegations that a priest working in the Davenport diocese office had downloaded child pornography onto his computer rattled lay Catholics last week.

But those same church officials give high marks to the Rev. William E. Franklin, the Davenport bishop, for taking quick action and being open about the alleged misconduct."

The 38 year old priest was charged with "two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor."

Editor’s Comment: Mt 5:29 "And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out" Ro 1:28 "...God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient."

Worthy News 23 January 2003 Voice of the Martyrs

"Washington, DC (VOM) -- The Voice of the Martyrs has learned that Vietnamese police, anxious to stop the spread of Christianity in their nation, have resorted to spraying worshippers with an unidentified chemical agent. Underground church services were raided and believers sprayed in two separate attacks last month. Victims of the attacks report that the chemical gas causes seizures and uncontrollable shaking.

The Voice of the Martyrs also has received a picture of a‘re-education’ session at one of the villages prior to the church being raided by police."

The VOM spokesman said using chemicals was new but they have "long received reports of arrests, beatings and even Christians having boiling water poured down their throats, but these chemical attacks show that the Vietnamese authorities have sunk to a new low."

Editor’s Comment: Philippians 1:29 "For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake."

Cybercast News Service (CNS Hereafter) 14 February 2003 SURVEY SHOWS PARENTS DISAPPROVE OF 'SAFE SEX,' CONDOM EDUCATION (Edited by DCB) "( - As Congress debates reauthorization of the federal welfare bill that funds sex education programs, a new survey of parents shows that most disapprove of so-called ‘safe sex’ education and prefer that kids get abstinence-based education. Yet most of the programs Congress funds promote the safe-sex message."

According to a poll conducted for the Coalition for Adolescent Sexual Health "Three-quarters of parents approve of abstinence education for their kids."

Over 60% of those polled "said they don't approve of so-called ‘comprehensive’ or ‘safe sex’ education, which typically focuses on condom use as a means of avoiding pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)."

Florida Republican, Dave Weldon said "We need to make sure that the money is going in a direction that, number one, works and is effective, and, number two, is what the voters actually want."

"According to the Family Research Council (FRC), a CDC grant to the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) went towards 50 pages' worth of sex ed guidelines." One half of one page "was dedicated to abstinence, while the remaining pages discussed masturbation, homosexuality, contraception and abortion."

"For fiscal year 2003, Bush asked for $135 million for ‘character-based abstinence education,’ about 60 percent of what the General Accounting Office has estimated goes to condom-based programs."

Leslie Kantor, spokesperson for the Othmer Institute at Planned Parenthood of New York City said a national poll released in 2002 by the Othmer Institute showed "that even those who identify as born-again Christians want a broad array of sex education topics to be covered in schools, including contraception."

Editor’s Comment: Heb 13:4 "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled..."

Sermon Audio.Com 13 February 2003 LATEST EVOLUTION THEORY: HICCUPS ANCIENT LEFTOVER (Edited by DCB) "It ranks among the great medical mysteries of our time, baffling the brightest brains and confounding the curious."

A concerted effort by researchers from "Canada, France and Japan, believes it may have finally unravelled the riddle of the human hiccup." The researchers have published "in the journal BioEssays" that "the hiccup is an evolutionary leftover -- a mechanism that allowed our ancient ancestors to breathe both water and air."

These intelligent researchers say they "have found striking similarities between hiccupping and the gill movements of tadpoles." These brilliant researchers say "there's a good reason why this physiological souvenir has survived to irritate modern-day humans 370 million years after our predecessors slithered out of the primordial soup." They "suggest that hiccups have remained with us as a tool to train our motor systems for suckling."

Hiccups according to one helps "clear the stomach of air and seal off the stomach and lungs to prevent any unwanted substance from flowing in." They "speculate, for example, that the prenatal hiccup prevents amnionic fluid from entering the lungs, just as it once enabled our primitive forefathers to keep from drowning."

Editor’s Comment: Ps 5:5 "The foolish shall not stand in thy sight..."

"Some soldiers headed for a possible war against Iraq are taking steps to preserve their future fatherhood, no matter what happens in combat."

Four Iowa soldiers expressed interest "in having their sperm banked."

The laboratory director of the McFarland Clinic in Ames said the "semen is frozen with liquid nitrogen and can theoretically be stored indefinitely."

"Medical clinics in California, Ohio, Virginia and other states also reported this week that military men are turning to sperm banking as a type of family insurance policy. At the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, there were 60 requests from military men this month to freeze sperm, according to The Associated Press."

Editor’s Comment: Mal 3:18 "Then shall ye...discern between the righteous and the wicked..."

Sydney Morning Herald (SMH hereafter) 01/31/03 THE FATHERS, THE SUN AND THE HOLY POST (Edited by DCB) "Hundreds of believers flocked to the Coogee Beach headland yesterday to witness what they say is an apparition of the Virgin Mary."

They all came "to touch, kiss and pray to the post which over the past few days has been transformed into something of a shrine, with pictures of the virgin, rosary beads and flowers piled around the white-washed fence."

While some wept, others sang, and most prayed. All this because as the sunlight reflects off crook in the fence the faithful claim they can discern "the shape of a veiled figure, and most agreed it was ‘Our Lady’."

However the "Catholic Church appears less keen to make that conclusion."

"Alleged apparitions come under the portfolio of the chancellor of the Sydney Archdiocese, Father John Doherty, but only if a report is presented to him for investigation. Father Doherty did not return the Herald's calls yesterday."

According to the Coogee parish priest "the daily appearance of the Virgin Mary on the headland is nothing more than an optical illusion." He said "I'm not putting a great amount of store on the significance of it" but "if people are experiencing a sense of peace by being there, then I see it as a good thing."

Editor’s Comment: 2Ti 3:6 "For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts."

Episcopal News Service (ENS hereafter) 18/02/2003

CENSUS SHOWS THAT MOST BRITS STILL IDENTIFY WITH CHRISTIANITY- A survey in England and Wales reports that 72% still "belong to the Christian religion, despite falling church attendance." "The second-largest faith in England and Wales is Islam with about 3 percent, or 1.5 million people, identifying themselves as Muslim, followed by Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism and Buddhism."

Of those surveyed "390,000 identified themselves as followers of Jedi, inspired by the warriors from the Star Wars movies."

Editor’s Comment: Ro 1:21 "..."and their foolish heart was darkened." 19/02/03 (Edited by DCB) LESBIAN SUES CHRISTIAN DOCTOR OVER REFUSAL TO INSEMINATE – "Homosexual advocacy groups are rallying behind a woman who claims she was unlawfully prevented from receiving artificial insemination because of a Christian physician's moral objection to impregnating lesbians."

The woman’s health care provider referred her to "the North Coast Women's Care Medical Group (NCWMG) in 1999. The woman, Guadalupe Benitez, "was told that the medical facility was the only provider of obstetrics and gynecology available under her plan." Benitez was eager to conceive so she spent "the next 11 months seeking fertility treatments at the San Diego-based NCWMG."

All went well until Benitez told her assigned physician (Dr. Christine Brody) she was a homosexual.

Dr. Brody said she did "not object to providing fertility treatments to a lesbian, but her Christian faith prevented her from impregnating homosexuals through means of artificially insemination. She referred Benitez to an outside physician who did not share her moral objection."

Benitez sued Brody and "the NCWMG based on a California law designed to prevent discrimination by business establishments and health care providers. A San Diego trial dismissed the lawsuit in 1999, saying it was without merit."

Now four years later Benitez is appealing.

Lambda Legal "a homosexual legal advocacy group" is handling the case and is "claiming trauma from being ‘dumped’ as a patient because of her homosexuality. She is also seeking compensation for a procedure that she claims should have been provided by her health care plan and the NCWMG."

Lambda said "doctors are entitled to hold any personal religious belief they choose" but "health care providers do not have the right to refuse medically appropriate treatment to a patient based on what they claim are personal religious beliefs about particular people."

The court has not yet issued its ruling.

Editor’s Comment: Romans 1:26 "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature." 20/02/03 - WHEATON COLLEGE RELAXES STRICT CONDUCT CODE

WHEATON COLLEGE (Edited by DCB) – Wheaton College (Alma mater of Billy Graham) in Wheaton, Illinois, USA has been a hotbed of liberalism for years. "A cultural revolution is under way in the far west suburbs: Wheaton College students, long banned by a strict code of conduct from smoking, drinking or having sex, won a long-sought privilege this week.

They can dance.

For the first time in Wheaton’s 143 year history faculty and graduate students "are now allowed to drink alcohol and smoke." However, this is only allowed if they are off campus and "in the case of drinking, only outside the presence of undergrads."

Spokeswoman for the board of trustees, Pat Swindle,

said "Drinking and tobacco use are none of the college's business."

Editor’s Comment: I wonder if the Wheaton trustees have read the 103 verses in the Bible that contain the words "ye shall not"? One such verse is Galatians 5:16 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." 18/02/03 (Edited by DCB) CANADIAN COURT: SCRIPTURES, HATE LITERATURE –

"Certain passages of the Bible can be construed as hate literature if placed in a particular context, according to a Canadian provincial court.

The Court in Saskatchewan "upheld a 2001 ruling by the province's human rights tribunal that fined a man for submitting a newspaper ad that included citations of four Bible verses that address homosexuality."

Journalist, Lorne Gunter, of the Edmonton Journal said the 11 December ruling generated "virtually no news stories and ‘not a single editorial.’"

Gunter said can you imagine "the hand-wringing if ever a federal court labeled the Quran hate literature and forced a devout Muslim to pay a fine for printing some of his book's more astringent passages in an ad in a daily newspaper."

"The ad's theme was that the Bible says no to homosexual behavior. It listed the references to four Bible passages, Romans 1, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 on the left side. An equal sign was placed between the verse references and a drawing of two males holding hands overlaid with the universal nullification symbol – a red circle with a diagonal bar."

"Justice J. Barclay wrote in his opinion that the human-rights panel ‘was correct in concluding that the advertisement can objectively be seen as exposing homosexuals to hatred or ridicule.’

When the use of the circle and slash is combined with the passages of the Bible, it exposes homosexuals to detestation, vilification and disgrace."

"In other words, the biblical passage which suggests that if a man lies with a man they must be put to death exposes homosexuals to hatred."

Editor’s Comment: Deuteronomy 25:1 "If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked."

Genesis 13:13 "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly."

Genesis 18:20 "And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous."

Romans 1:27 "And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."

It is no surprise the judgment in Saskatchewan went for the wicked. However, the Bible is correct and the human rights panel was incorrect Justice Barclay.
