Standing unashamedly for the King James Bible

Dubbo Daily Liberal (Australia) 18 March 2005 TIME TO MARK HOLY EVENT (Edited by DCB) "Palm fronds and a cross fashioned from railway sleepers will be among the props used to mark the beginning of Holy Week when the combined churches of Dubbo gather in Victoria Park this Sunday. It's the seventh year the Catholic, Anglican, Uniting and Lutheran churches have come together for an ecumenical Palm Sunday service."

"The Palm Sunday service will be the culmination of a big weekend in Victoria Park, which will be the venue for the Easter Awakening Festival from noon to 4pm tomorrow. The free family event will offer live bands, an outdoor café, wind tunnel, two jumping castles, sumo wrestling, three-way tug-o-war, water bomb volleyball, kids craft and more. Further activities will be offered throughout the afternoon including puppets and jigsaw puzzles, clowns, face painting, juggling, bubble blowing, balloon sculpting and an appearance by Granny Smith who will be handling out apples as part of a ‘living Aussie parable’ being told on the day. Cool drinks and hot food such as sausage and steak sandwiches and hot dogs will be available at cost price. Free tea, coffee and slices will be available from the outdoor café."

Editor’s Comment: I do not know the hearts of these people but I know organized Catholicism has not changed and this event is out and out compromise. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is truly an event for commemoration but where do these who claim the name "Christian" think jumping castles, sumo wrestling, etc. have anything to do with that wonderful event? Vance Havner said it best in his sermon ARE WE PLAYING BY THE BOOK? He said "If God ever visits us again in real revival, there will be many red faces as churchmen and religious leaders blush and hang their heads in shame for the silly and stupid ways in which we have tried to promote the work of God in the energy of the flesh by the help of the world. Drama will be unnecessary. We may not even need great preachers! Gospel jazz will slink away, and we shall be chagrined that we ever sank so low as to tolerate it. All this will vanish in the blinding light of the holiness of God, and no flesh will glory in His presence..."

The Daily Telegraph (Australia) 12 March 2005 FREE DESPITE MURDER CONFESSION (Edited by DCB) "A MAN who confessed to killing two women walked free from court yesterday when a judge ruled the evidence too damning. Father-of-two Lyle Simpson admitted being a killer, DNA evidence proved he was at the scene of one murder and he tried to commit suicide a day later. Yet after three days of legal argument in the NSW Supreme Court, Judge Anthony Whealy ruled some evidence was just too damning and ran the risk of ‘unfair prejudice’' to the accused." Simpson, who had spent 16 months in jail waiting to be tried, said ""If you haven't been in jail you don't know what it's like to be locked up in cells, no TVs and radios."

Editor’s Comment: Romans 13: 3-4 "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil."

The Daily Telegraph (Australia) 11 March 2005 ROBBIE WINS UK FUNERAL SURVEY (Edited by DCB) London: "ROBBIE Williams has topped the UK funeral music chart, leaving Mozart trailing in his wake, according to a survey today." His song "…Angels was the record most Britons would like played at their funeral, with Mozart's Requiem coming in at five in digital broadcaster Music Choice's poll of top 10 British funeral songs. Frank Sinatra's My Way was second, just ahead of Monty Python's Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." Across the channel "Queen's The Show Must Go On topped the European chart, with Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven and AC/DC's Highway to Hell in second and third place."

Editor’s Comment: If Great Britain is like Australia many of these funerals playing these worldly ungodly songs take place in a building called a "church". Luke 18:8 "I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" 13 March 2005 MORMON TEENS COPE BEST (Edited by DCB) "A groundbreaking study of American teenagers and religion conducted at UNC-Chapel Hill finds that of all the religious groups surveyed, Mormons fared best at avoiding risky behaviors, doing well in school and having a positive attitude about the future. Conservative Protestants came in second. The study, a four-year effort, included telephone interviews with 3,370 randomly selected U.S. teenagers ages 13 to 17, followed by face-to-face interviews with a subset of 267. The result, called the National Study of Youth and Religion, is a massive compilation of data on Protestant, Roman Catholic, Jewish and religiously unaffiliated teenagers. The study was led by UNC sociologist Christian Smith and financed with $4 million from the Lilly Endowment." The study found that "...while teenagers who are religiously involved fared well overall, the 2.5 percent of respondents who identified themselves as Mormon fared best when it came to traversing the choppy waters of adolescence."

However "Conservative Christians -- members of evangelical congregations -- and black Protestants bested Mormons in some categories, especially in their high rates of belief in God. For example, 94 percent of conservative Protestant teenagers and 97 percent of black Protestant teenagers said they believed in God, compared with 84 percent of Mormon youths. Similarly, when asked whether they made a personal commitment to live for God, 79 percent of conservative Protestants and 74 percent of black Protestants said they did, compared with 69 percent of Mormons. But when it came to measuring rates of sexual activity and drug and alcohol use, Mormon teenagers showed a greater willingness to adhere to the requirements of their faith." According to the study a Mormon teen is "…more religiously serious and articulate than most other religious teenagers in the U.S."

Editor’s Comment: This study puts Mormonism in a good light but we must remember Mormonism is a cult without Christ no matter what studies may reveal and the new evangelicals are saying. They may use the King James Bible BUT they add the Book of Mormon. Christian parent practice 2Timothy 3:15 "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." The Salt Lake Tribune 21 March 2005 THE EVANGELICAL & THE MORMON: BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH DISCOURSE Baptist minister Greg Johnson and Mormon educator Robert Millet and Greg Johnson have been talking about faith to church audiences across the country and now on a weekly television show, but they agreed long ago to set aside the question on everyone's mind: Who will convert whom? It's not that Millet, a prominent Latter-day Saint author and educator, and Johnson, a Baptist minister, are aloof about what each considers his great commission. Both would like to see the converted to their belief system but as Johnson says "This is bigger than that." Greg Johnson is director of Standing Together which is supported by "Christian" churches seeking in "building better relationships with Latter-day Saints."

Editor’s Comment: Gal. 1: 8 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."

Email from Sister Francis May - Our Lady of the Rosary Fatima 21 March 2005 (Original text in Portuguese translation by auto text mail International) Edited by DCB) "A representative of Icon Films has confirmed that Mel Gibson has purchased the rights to 'Stealing from Angels' by Irish writer Brian Dullaghan." Dullaghan’s book is based on the visions of Mary by Lucia, a young girl, who lived in Fatima. The email gives the following: "Lucia Dos Santos was 10 years old when on May 13, 1917, while tending the sheep in the Cova de Iria, a woman, who later identified herself as the Blessed Virgin Mary, appeared to the children. The apparition would continue monthly on the 13th of the month until October 1917 (save August, when imprisonment by the anti-clerical authorities prevented it). During each month's apparition, the Virgin encouraged prayer, especially the rosary, and sacrifice. She also communicated certain prophecies of the future (the end of World War I, the rise of terror in Russia (communism) and its propagation throughout the world, the annihilation of nations, another war preceded by a heavenly sign if men did not convert, and the suffering and persecution of the good, especially the Holy Father. On Oct. 13, 1930, the bishop of Leiria-Fátima, José Alves Correia da Silva, declared the apparitions of Fátima worthy of credibility and allowed public devotion to the Virgin under the title of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima." "At 14 she was admitted as a boarder to the school of the Sisters of St. Dorothy in Vilar, near Oporto in the north of Portugal. On Oct. 24, 1925, she entered the Institute of the Sisters of St. Dorothy as a postulant in the convent in Tuy, Spain, not far from the Portuguese border. It was here that Lucia committed to paper the final part of Our Lady’s message."

Editor’s Comment: I have not a clue why I received the above email. I wonder if Warren, Hybel’s and others who promoted Gibson’s The Passion will get behind this film.

Saddleback Church web site

26 March, 2005 RECORD YEAR FOR BAPTISMS (Edited by DCB) "Saddleback baptizes more than 2,000 in 2004!" We rejoice with those at Saddleback for all who have come to trust the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and then followed Him in the waters of baptism. God knows the hearts of the 2,029 people who were baptized at Saddleback last year. However, in reading the testimony given online one begins to wonder. There one reads terms such as "never felt connected to Jesus" and having "never given up control of my life to God and invited his direction into my life" along with Billy Graham’s expression "commitment". Of course these 2,029 baptisms are the result of the "…40 Days of Purpose program." To reach these people it is said "New worship venues setup around the Saddleback campus also played an important role in the church’s growth in 2004. Those attending one of seven worship venues listen to the same sermon everyone else does through a live video feed, but the music is different. Music styles at these venues include everything from heavy rock to Hawaiian to gospel and praise. Not only have these venues drawn people from the community who might not normally come to church, but they’ve also freed up seats in the main services for spiritual seekers. Nearly 2,000 people each weekend now attend one of those venues."

Editor’s Comment: Some may think I am just being critical but please reread the above discerningly and then read 1 Corinthians 15: 3 and 4 and see if the mega church movement is preaching the same message. More from Saddleback -

WILDSIDE, CHURCH FOR JUNIOR HIGHERS "John 10:10 says that Christ came to give us the best life possible. This means that choosing to live a life that honors God is the best choice we can make! But how do you do that? Is it really possible to have fun and live for God? Yes it is, and we set time aside each week to help you experience the excitement of living for God. Every weekend, hundreds of 7th - 8th grade students gather for our Wildside Experience. The Wildside Experience offers incredible music, strange games, silly prizes, fun videos and more. Each Experience also includes an interesting lesson geared to help you understand the incredible life Jesus Christ offers."

Editor’s Comment: John 10:10 in the Bible says "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." How does "incredible music" which probably sounds much like the world’s music and "strange games, silly prizes" and "fun videos" help a junior higher to "live a life that honors God"? Speaking to Timothy Paul said in 2 Timothy 2: 21-22 "If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart."
