Standing unashamedly for the King James Bible

Baptist Churches, Baptist mission boards, and Baptist denominations are sadly moving into the new evangelical camp ever so quickly. Some of them no longer hide this fact as their publications are very open in reporting the move for the use of certain words, terms, and ministries reveals this fact. The Association of Baptists for World evangelism is one such organization.

ABWE Summer MESSAGE 2004 A CONVERSATION WITH MOBILIZATION by Donna Messenger, Editor (Edited by DCB). This conversation was with Don Trott and Dan Brandon. It reveals the continued drift of ABWE into new evangelicalism through the words and terms used. Emphasis is mine (DCB).

"People want to be sure that they will be in a cutting- edge ministry and that they are not going to be in a box. They want to make sure they are in a situation where they will develop good, deep relationships, both with missionaries and with nationals."

"I also think …that the younger generation is looking …at the traditional legalistic church and realizes they have failed and they’re dying. In a sense, they are saying it shouldn’t be just, ‘This is the way we do it.’ The church needs to be doctrinally sound, but there’s more than one way to ‘do’ church. They’re looking at church, willing to ask the tough questions."

"Let’s go see what they are doing, and see how we can fit into the culture."

"But in the context of today’s culture – there is a tremendous concern for the needs of people, not only spiritually, but they’re asking, ‘What are you doing with AIDS? What are you doing with pregnancy situations – worldwide?’"

"Today, I would say it’s normal in a conversation for people to ask about physical needs.… and they’re saying, ‘What are you doing to meet the felt needs of the people in these countries?’"

Editors Comment: Do you discern the movement by ABWE toward what might eventually be a "social" gospel? "The day will come when those who think they can repair a house which has no foundations will see the wisdom in quitting it altogether. All along we have said that to come out from association with questionable doctrines is the only possible solution of a difficulty which, however it may be denied, is not to be trifled with by those who are conscious of its terrible reality." C.H.S., The Sword and the Trowel, July 1889.

Some ABWE missionaries are new evangelical. The following is correspondence with an ABWE missionary in South Africa 2/25/2003 and then a couple of prayer letters of two ABWE missionaries that appear on the Internet.

The missionary in South Africa wrote, "So, we believe that we have a unique opportunity to train up a generation in some of these areas. So, we are doing specific training in music, drama, creative writing, puppets, graphic arts- painting, sculpting, movement/dance." This is the edited 8 March 2004 prayer letter of an ABWE missionary in Brazil. "Also, our church in…has won the Purpose Driven Church international healthy church award… for which they will be flying….to Saddleback Church in CA for a presentation at the pastor’s conference in May!"

This is an ABWE missionary to Paraguay’s 19 February 2004 prayer letter saying, "In less than 24 hours we will be joining over 4800 churches worldwide in launching the campaign ‘40 Days of Purpose.’"

Editors Comment: Rick Warren has some truth mixed with much error. The gospel is a theological message and not a philosophical method.

Sydney Morning Herald (SMH hereafter) August 7, 2004 VICAR BACKS NUDE CALENDAR (Edited by DCB) "An English vicar has agreed to promote a nude calendar in his church after a group of women posed naked to raise money for rape victims in Rwanda.

The good Reverend said he supported the calendar of nude women for "As Christians we are taught to help widows and orphans." He went on to say, "Undoubtedly some people will complain, but it is important to see it before making any criticisms."

Editors Comment: Matthew 15:14 "…they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."

SMH 10 August 2004 DEPRESSING OUTCOME (Edited by DCB) "Britons consume the anti-depressant drug Prozac in such large quantities that traces of it can now be found in the country's drinking water, it has been reported."

It has been revealed by the Environment Agency, "…that Prozac was building up both in river systems and groundwater used for drinking supplies." "The drug found its way into the water supply from treated sewage water."

However, according to the Drinking Water Inspectorate the "Prozac was likely to be found in such a "watered down" form that it was unlikely to pose a health risk." The prescribing of Prozac and other anti-depressants has risen in Great Britain from nine million in 2001 to 24 million in 2004!

Editors Comment: What is taking place in Great Britain and around the world is a preparation for Revelation 9:21, which says, "Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts." In commenting on this verse Theodore Epp says, "The Greek word for ‘sorcery’ is pharmakeia from which we get our word ‘pharmacy.’ The original word had to do with the mixing of poisons or drugs that were used by magicians. The use of drugs is rampant in our day and it will not be less so during the Tribulation. The Antichrist will apparently make full use of drug addiction to bring the population in favour with his will."

SMH 16 August GOVERNOR'S GAY AFFAIR MAKES NO IMPACT IN POLL (Edited by DCB) "New Jersey Governor James McGreevey's approval rating has not suffered since he announced that he had an affair with a man and will resign in November, a new poll showed today."

In fact his "…approval rating was 45 per cent, two points higher than in a similar poll conducted two weeks earlier, according to the Star-Ledger/Eagleton-Rutgers poll."

Editors Comment: Proverbs 3:35 "The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools." Leaders such as this man are like, "…Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin." 1 Kings 14: 16.

"Neither when we have chosen our way can we keep company with those who go the other way. There must come with decision for truth a corresponding protest against error." -- C.H.S., The Sword and the Trowel, September 1887.
