Letter to the Editor

Sir,
Re: Mr. Phillis' letter of
27 February. There are many qualified scientists that believe the Biblical
account of creation. Two good internet sites for information are: http://www.icr.org/
and http://www.answersingenesis.org/ .
When I trusted the Lord
Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour I also accepted His Word as truth. As I
studied the Scriptures I discovered a simple rule for Bible interpretation and
that is, when the plain sense of Scripture makes common sense, seek no other
sense, but take every word in its primary, literal meaning unless the facts of
the immediate context clearly indicate otherwise.
(1) The Bible
clearly teaches the creation of one man and one woman. Genesis 1:27 "So God
created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and
female created he them." Mark 10:6 "But from the beginning of the creation God
made them male and female." 1Corinthians 15:45 "And so it is written, The first
man Adam was made a living soul." 1Timothy 2:13, 14 "For Adam was first formed,
then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the
transgression."
(2) The Bibles
clearly teaches that death and suffering came by the disobedience of the
original Adam. Genesis 3: 3 "But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst
of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it,
lest ye die." Genesis 3:17-19 "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast
hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I
commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy
sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and
thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground;
for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou
return." Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and
death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."
(3) The Bible also
clearly teaches why God became man, 1Timothy 3:16 "God was manifest in the
flesh." Jesus said in Matthew 9:13 "for I am not come to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance." Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in
that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." 1Timothy 1:15 "This is a
faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners." Romans 6: 23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the
gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
It is best to read the
Bible and get God=s view before reading the views of others.
Sincerely,
