Dubbo's urban residents are younger than average and there aren't enough
males for the female population.
Most of the city's adult population either own their home or are in the
process of paying it off but with smaller-than-average monthly
repayments.
All but 1491 of us were born in Australia, according to the latest batch
of Census 2001 information released by the Australian Bureau of
Statistics (ABS).
The average Dubbo urban resident is aged 32, compared to the NSW average
of 35, and pays $838 off their home loan each month, lower than the
State average of $1049.
If any Dubbo women complain they can't find a decent man there's a
reason: there are 16,094 females in the city but only 14,843 males. It's
the same Statewide with 3,226,300 women calling NSW home compared to
3,145,445 men.
When it comes to living arrangements, 3017 of us live in a house that
consists of a couple with dependent children.
However 2622 Dubbo residents choose to live alone while 2617 people live
in a household as a couple without children.
The majority of residents in Dubbo are either in the process of paying
off a mortgage (2987) or already fully own their homes (3702). The rest
(3824) are renting.
Of the city's total urban population of 30,860, 27,585 people were born
in Australia, 1491 residents were not born in Australia and 3204 people
identified themselves as indigenous Australians.
The unemployment rate for Dubbo residents (aged 15 years or over) was
7.2 per cent, the State average. Of the 8843 Dubbo residents who are
employed on a full-time basis, 3611 identified themselves as
professionals, 1350 were labourers and related workers and 2342 fell
into the category of "intermediate clerical, sales and service workers".

centres ahead of Dubbo included Wagga Wagga (8) with 44,272 people,
Tamworth (11) with 32,440 people and Orange (12) at with 31,923.
