Dearly Fellow Servants of the Lord Jesus Christ,
Romans 1: 7 "…beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and
peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ."
Exodus10:14 "And the locusts went up over all the
land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very
grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they,
neither after them shall be such." From that passage we know what we in
and around Dubbo are presently going through is nothing compared to the
plague God sent in Moses' day but these locusts are dreadful! Our local
paper carried the following article which we have edited for space.
INVASION OF LOCUSTS: Wednesday, 17 March 2004
"Millions of hungry plague locusts descended on
Dubbo yesterday and they could be here as long as they like or
until the weather becomes unsettled.
The locusts covered streets and buildings
and swarmed around the city's public parks, sporting grounds and private
gardens. The squashed remains of thousands of others were on main roads.
The locusts are the adult leftovers of an
infestation that began in southern Queensland in January. Mr
Walker said the pests would eat almost anything in their path. 'Primarily
they eat grasses, including cereal crops but if there are no grasses
available they will eat anything green that's around such as people's
gardens or irrigated crops,' he said."
With a drought for the last two years and now the
locust's one would think at least some people would be turning to God
but interestingly a study recently taken here in New South Wales does not
reveal that. Instead it said "The results of the poll, in the order of
their rating, were family, friends, the environment, leisure, service to
others, work, politics and religion." Religion was last! Then sadly we
read that "Suicide and road accidents accounted for more than half of all
deaths of people aged 15 to 24, a new report on young Australians has
revealed." Suicide! 2 Thessalonians 3: 1 "Finally, brethren, pray for us,
that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as
it is with you."
We have several unsaved men we would ask prayer
for; Peter, Matthew, Ian, Brent, John, and Mark. Some of these
men we see more often than others but to each we have either spoken to
concerning their need for Christ or given literature to. In talking to the
unsaved one soon becomes conscious of the truth in 2Corinthians 4:4 "In
whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe
not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of
God, should shine unto them."
We did have some encouragement one day while
doing the Friday radio programme CROSSTALK A gentleman came
into the studio to tell us he listens to THE GOSPEL HOUR on Sundays and
really enjoys it. In fact he said it often brings tears to his eyes. This
man has had a stroke so pray he will come to know the Lord and begin
coming to the Gilgandra Baptist Fellowship meetings.
Once again we want to thank you for your faithful
prayers and financial gifts. Three churches and one individual
have increased their monthly support for which we thank them. According to
the missions treasurer we only need $251.14 per month to have 100%
support. We know that our "…God shall supply all your need according to
his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19.
