AUGUST, 2004
Dear Fellow Believers,
2 Peter 1: 1, 2 "Simon Peter, a servant and an
apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith
with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and
of Jesus our Lord."
King David wrote in Psalm 139: 13, 14 "For thou hast
possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will
praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy
works; and that my soul knoweth right well." The abortion issue is in the
spot light here due to a British film "MY FOETUS" airing on the Australian
Broadcasting Corporation television network Sunday evening 8th August.
Unfortunately the leader of the opposition said "he would not be watching
My Foetus, because he was not interested." It is hard to imagine anyone
not being interested but that is the reality of the society in which we
live and of many of those who desire to rule over us! Proverbs 29:2 "When
the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked
beareth rule, the people mourn."
One of Pam's sisters telephoned about 1am Monday
morning 19 July. She had just taken their mother, Hazel, to hospital.
The doctors put her on oxygen and intravenous feeding and she was put into
intensive care. Hazel is almost ninety years old and has lived alone since
her husband passed away in 1984. Even though all the children live near
her, except for Pam, and visit her every day they cannot always make sure
she takes her medication on time or eats her meals as she should. The last
week of July she was released from hospital and is living with Pam's
eldest sister. Please continue to pray for Hazel as she has not trusted
Christ as her personal Saviour.
Jim and Margaret's youngest son is back on heroin.
He recently telephoned them and asked if he could come out and spend a
week and try to get off the stuff. He is spending the first week of August
with them and then back to Sydney. It was just about a year ago Jim spent
several thousand dollars on an implant to get him off heroin. He was to
get two implants six months apart but rather than have the second implant
he went back on heroin. This is certainly a trying time for them and we
would ask you remember them in your prayers as the Lord brings them to
your mind.
The 23rd July was open house at the radio station.
It was WAR FM's sixth anniversary of being in existence and first birthday
at the new studio with the open house from 2 - 6pm. CrossTalk is on air
from 2 - 4pm so we saw several people coming and going during the
broadcast and some coming into the broadcast studio to meet us when not on
air. It was good as people were able to see we are normal even though we
are "religious".
Sunday mornings we are presently doing a doctrinal
study on hell. After the message the first Sunday in August Gary asked
David for some tracts to put in letter boxes as he walked his dog in the
mornings. That may not sound like much to some but that was certainly an
encouragement to us. David has a tract to give whenever he is out and one
day he was in a store speaking to a young sales clerk. The young man is
from Ireland and has been here in Australia eight months. David mentioned
since he was from Ireland he would know Ian Paisley and he did know of
him. This began a discussion on the topic of religion and this young man's
father is
a Brethren pastor. David asked him if he knew the Lord
as his Saviour and he said he was an atheist. David and he talked for
awhile and David gave him a Chick tract. He said he would read it as he
did like to discuss religion even though he was an atheist. Please
remember Irish Mark for salvation as you go to the throne of grace.
John Bunyan said "I never knew all
there was in the Bible until I spent those years in jail. I was
constantly finding new treasures." May we be diligent in seeking those
wonderful treasures outside jail. The months continue to move by very
quickly and praise God He continues to meet our every need. Thank you so
much for your generous and faithful support both in prayers and finances.
May God richly bless here and there as we seek to bring glory to His name!
Your Missionaries to
Australia,
David and Pam Bennett
