Dear Praying Friends,
Psalm 85: 6 "Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people
may rejoice in thee?" Spurgeon in commenting on this verse said
"We are dead or dying, faint and feeble, God alone can revive us, he
has in other times refreshed his people, he is still the same, he
will repeat his love."
In December a dear couple who have been married for over forty
years asked if they could renew their marriage vows. The main reason
they desired to do this was when they were first married it was not
so much a custom here in Australia for the man to receive a wedding
ring. They came to the place in their marriage where they desired
for him to have one, so at this service she gave him his ring! We do
praise the Lord for this precious couple. They were baptized in 1998
and have grown steadily in the things of God and His Word since.
We are also praising the Lord that God’s people gave six hundred
dollars to an Australian independent Baptist church planting
missionary to Vanuatu from the Christmas offering. We are looking
forward to the day when they will regularly support a foreign church
planting missionary and a home church planting missionary. We have
several goals but one of those is to teach God’s people to be
generous in their giving for (1) it is Biblical and (2) we have
known this blessing first hand through your giving to us!
We are presently doing an Old Testament survey in the Gilgandra
fellowship and a New Testament survey in Dubbo. Even though these
are mainly teaching we are reminded of the English nonconformist
Richard Baxter’s words that he "preached as never sure to preach
again, And as a dying man to dying men." A preacher never knows what
the day will bring forth for him or those to whom he preaches.
Before we close we want to thank all who gave for Pam’s birthday
in November and those who shared with us at Christmas. Your gifts
are a reminder of your love for us and the ministry to which God has
called us. Thank you for your continued prayers and financial
support and God’s very best as we enter a New Year.
Serving the Saviour with you,
David and Pam Bennett
