JULY- AUGUST 2008
Dear Friends in Christ,
In John 4:35 Jesus said
"Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest?
behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields;
for they are white already to harvest."
Can you sense the Saviour’s passion as he speaks these words to
not only His disciples but us as well! Spurgeon in commenting on
this verse said, "This was a goodly sight, but it called for further
effort." We often receive letters of other missionaries around the
world where the Lord is bringing many unto Himself and we rejoice in
that! However, whether it is in those places where souls are
responding to the Gospel or in areas where they are not, the task is
not yet finished and there is still "further effort" to be put
forth. Until we hear that shout in the air, we have not finished our
task here!
Last month (July), we attended a funeral of one of our radio
listeners. Mrs. S was in her mid 70’s and had fallen earlier in the
year and never recovered. Before and even after her fall she would
telephone us at the station to say she was listening and enjoyed our
programmes. We visited her a few times when she was in the Dubbo
hospital but as far as we know, she never trusted Christ. Her
funeral was at the High Anglican Church in Gilgandra. Many attended
the funeral where there was a lot of formality and religiosity but
no clear presentation of the gospel and therefore no call to accept
Christ. Pray for Mrs. S’s husband, Bruce, for salvation.
David continues to "network" with the young people at our local
McDonalds. In early July, David missed one of the full-time young
girls (Rosie, mid-twenties) so he asked where she was. It was sad to
hear that she was in drug rehab in another town several hours from
Dubbo. Then the last week of July, David saw Rosie and asked how she
was doing and made light conversation. We do ask that you pray for
Rosie. She along with most, if not all, the young people we know,
needs Christ.
It was our privilege to have a young couple from western New
South Wales visit the first Sunday in August with their four young
children. They visited five years ago when she was pregnant with
their first child. They are a fine young Christain family and
certainly were an encouragement.
Jim and Margaret have sold their farm and have purchased a house
block in Bathurst to be closer to their children in Sydney. Bathurst
is a three-hour drive east of Dubbo and does have a small
independent Baptist church. Their new house will not be completed
for several months so they will be with us until November or even
December. This is a blow to the work but God knows!
We have mentioned Mark R many times in our letters and asked you
to pray for his salvation. Well, he and his second wife recently had
a baby boy, William John, so Pam made a baby quilt for him and we
gave him a Bible along with the quilt. In closing, we would ask you
to remember in prayer, Mark and Tracey R, Bob and Elizabeth L, and
Ian H for salvation.
Thank you again for your prayers and financial support. "Now
unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we
ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be
glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world
without end. Amen" Ephesians 3:20, 21.
Safe and secure in the hands of the Lord Jesus,
David & Pam Bennett
