Dear Friends in Christ,
Col 1:2 "To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ... Grace be unto
you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."
How we thank the Lord for His saints and faithful brethren in Christ
such as you! Your prayers and financial gifts make it possible for us to
live and serve in this spiritually needy land. Our desire is someday to
have a group gathered as a local New Testament church to "praise the LORD
for his goodness." Psalm 107:31. With the prospect of war, present
drought, never ending corruption in high places etc. one would think
hearts would be softer and yet hearts are not softened but rather
hardened. Perhaps "This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was
hardened." Exodus 8:19. Incredible! As Jonathan Edwards said "The
unregenerate man loves sin. Sin is his delight. He hides sin as a sweet
morsel under his tongue. Sin hangs like a viper to the heart!" But praise
be to God Who can and will break the hardest of hearts and convict of
"sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment."
Before we get too far into the letter some have asked about David’s ant
bite. It was better about five days later with the itching and swelling
going away. THANK YOU for caring!
The Aussie dollar continues to rise and so do prices of just about
everything just like in the states. Petrol or gasoline as it is called in
the states is at $4.55 a gallon and the price of meat they say will be
going up dramatically if the drought isn’t broken soon. We heard the other
day on the agriculture news that many stockmen will need to sell their
cattle as feed is getting too expensive. If most of the herds are sold for
meat consumption now when the drought is broken herds will be down in
number and it will be sometime before beef is available at a reasonable
price, whatever that might be by then. We did receive some much needed
rain February 20, 21. It didn’t break the drought but has helped.
We continue to seek in getting the gospel out for "if our gospel be
hid, it is hid to them that are lost." 2Corinthians 4:3. In February David
was having the tyres rotated and front aligned of our vehicle when the
young proprietor (Tony) said he and his wife had just had a baby and named
her Hannah. David told him that was a good Bible name of which Tony was
not aware. Tony showed some interest in Hannah being a Bible name so the
next day David took a Defined King James Children’s Bible by Tony’s place
of business and presented it to him. He was quite surprised and very
grateful. David marked where Hannah’s name was found in the Scriptures and
related a little about Hannah to Tony. Pray this may be the beginning of
the Lord’s working with Tony and his wife.
In Australia we can distribute literature in mail boxes which we seek
to take advantage of. One day as David was distributing the 2003 gospel
calendars in letter boxes in Avian Estate he was putting the calendar into
a letter box when the gentleman of the house (Edward) came out. Edward
began the conversation which is unusual and in the conversation said he
was a Mormon. He and his wife grew up as Roman Catholics in the
Philippines but left it to attend what he called an Evangelical Church.
When they came to Australia they lived in Melbourne and became Mormons.
David talked with Edward for awhile and Edward said if David had a Bible
study to just leave it in the letter box if no one was home. This David
did not long ago. He left Spurgeon’s book ALL OF GRACE with a study guide
that includes questions and verses to go along with each chapter of the
book. David also left a Bible in case they did not have one. Pray for the
Yaps that God will use Spurgeon’s ALL OF GRACE along with the many
Scripture verses used to bring this couple to Himself. 1Peter 1:23 "Being
born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of
God, which liveth and abideth for ever."
Many of you may remember Mark who we have mentioned several times
before. David has been by to see Mark a couple of times recently but each
time someone else has been present so David was never really able to talk
openly with him at the time. Mark did tell David he is now involved in
something really spiritual but it isn’t Christianity. David went by to see
Mark to give him some literature the next to the last week of February but
again he was busy with a sales representative. It was interesting a few
weeks ago David had been given a script from the medical doctor to have
some blood tests taken for cholesterol etc. at the medical centre. When
David was asked by the nurse to come into the room he went in and sat down
as instructed. She asked David if he knew who she was. David had not a
clue. She was Mark’s wife. David had not seen her for quite sometime but
after she told him who she was he recognized her. Well, while taking the
blood she also related Mark’s leaving her and the two children who
undoubtedly are greatly affected by all this. She had converted to
Catholicism for Mark which David thought was the other way around. David
mentioned Mark said something about spirituality and she confirmed he was
getting deeply involved in this. Well, the last Tuesday of February David
was able to make contact with Mark and give him a marked edition
(salvation verses are underlined) of the gospel of John and Romans. David
asked him to read the underlined verses and he said he would. Please pray
for the Lord’s opening avenues to witness more to Mark and Le Ann.
May God bless as you and we sow the gospel seed and wait for His
harvest!
Isaiah 55:8 - 11 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are
your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the
earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your
thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and
returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth
and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So
shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return
unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall
prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
Ezekiel 34:26 "And I will make them and the places round about my hill
a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there
shall be showers of blessing."
1Corinthians 3:7, 8 "So then neither is he that planteth any thing,
neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that
planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own
reward according to his own labour."
