Dear Friends in Christ Jesus,
Nahum 1: 7 "The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of
trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him." Matthew Henry in commenting
on this verse said "The same almighty power that is exerted for the terror and
destruction of the wicked is engaged, and shall be employed, for the protection
and satisfaction of his own people; he is able both to save and to destroy."
Hebrews 7: 25 "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that
come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."
Autumn is here and the weather is almost perfect for walking the
neighbourhoods and doing letter box tract distribution. Praise the Lord for this
freedom! We do not have a new gospel to tell but continue to proclaim the old
fashioned Bible gospel of, "how that Christ died for our sins according to
the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures" 1 Corinthians 15: 3, 4. Charles Spurgeon said
"I cannot agree with those who say that they have 'new truth' to teach. The two
words seem to me to contradict each other; that which is new is not true. It is
the old that is true, for truth is as old as God Himself." Isaiah 55: 11 says
God’s Word "shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which
I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
We would ask you to continue praying for the salvation of Mark,
Ian, John, Bob and Elizabeth, and others we personally give a tract to (which
includes clerks who serve us in stores etc.). Also remember to pray for the
spiritual growth of Jim and Margaret, Jon and Lynne, and for us.
In mid - April the antenna at WAR FM went on the blink and it
took two weeks to obtain another one and get it up and running. We therefore
missed two Friday and Sunday programmes. Now we are back on air! As far as if
any one is listening to our programmes we know that some Seven Day Adventists
listen for they brought several of their Adventist books on prophecy into the
studio for David to read a few months back. Well, after the new antenna was
installed and our first Friday back on air, a lady we had never met before
walked into the WAR FM building. Pam left the studio to greet her and was with
her for almost half an hour. After the lady left and Pam came back into the
studio she informed me the lady was from South Australia and was travelling
around the various states visiting pastors. She had made contact with all the
pastors in Gilgandra but me. She informed Pam she would be attending our
services that Sunday. She had given Pam a copy of SATURDAY OR SUNDAY? WHY NOT
ASK GOD? She told Pam we were all heading to the same place but she desired for
me to read this paper and wanted my input that coming Sunday. The title and
content of the paper immediately gave what denomination she was but I took this
as from the Lord and prepared a message for His people on why the Lord’s
churches gather for worship on the first day of the week. The lady never showed
up to hear my "input" but I presented the message from God’s Word that Lord’s
Day. The message was a help to Jim and he asked for a copy of the notes as he
said he is sometimes asked that question as Gilgandra has quite a few Seven Day
Adventists. The Lord does bring some interesting people into our lives, doesn’t
He? When we lived in Sydney we often had a Roman Catholic Brother visit our
services. He said he agreed with us that salvation was by grace through faith
alone but he liked the outward ceremonies associated with the Roman Church. He
eventually left the Roman Church but joined the high church of England as a
Brother. He would not let go of those outward ceremonies! God does bring some
personalities into one’s life that makes it interesting, doesn’t He?
It was also in April that we had the monitor to our desk top
computer go up in smoke. David was setting at the desk typing some work when he
heard a sizzling sound and looked up to see smoke coming from the top of the
monitor (which by the way was not caused by his typing too fast). Fortunately we
also have a lap top so the work needing the use of a computer was not put off.
Now we must make a decision whether to spend the funds for a new monitor or not.
So far that decision has been to wait.
A big thank you to those who remembered David’s sixty second
birthday. David’s birth isn’t listed anywhere (as far as we know) as an
historical event but the 14th of April was an eventful day in
history. It was on the 14th of April 1865 that President
Abraham Lincoln was shot in Ford's Theatre by John Wilkes Booth. It was also on
the 14th of April, in 1989, that the 1,100,000,000th
Chinese was born and sadly most of those to this day have never heard the
gospel! There is no charge for that little bit of knowledge.
Thank you for your prayers and financial support and God’s very
best as we;
Serve the Saviour with you,
David and Pam Bennett
