Dear Prayer Partners,
Proverbs 17:6a "Children's children are the crown
of old men..." Our oldest son, Jonathan and his wife
Lynne had a baby boy at 10.45pm the 24th of August. His name is
Caleb Jonathan Bennett and weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces and was twenty
inches long. He is our ninth grandchild and our sixth grandson.
Caleb is our only grandchild living here in Australia.
Last month we mentioned our
ministry of tract distribution. We received
correspondence from one of our individual supporters who wrote "I
want to share with you what a simple tract and testimony did for my
mother many years ago. My Mom had been religious, went to church,
memorized scripture, loved Christian music etc, but had never heard
of God's plan of salvation. One day a man who had delivered
something (probably feed or gasoline) brought the invoice to the
door and as he did so, he asked her if she was on her way to Heaven.
Mom said later that she was surprised and said she was trying and
hoped so. He said with confidence, "I KNOW I'm going to Heaven" and
gave her a tract. My Mom had never heard one could be sure of
Heaven. She read the tract, and then wanted to find a church that
could tell her more. She did find a church, accepted Christ and then
proceeded to teach us children and take us to a church that taught
the Bible. For the rest of her life, my Mom's greatest desire was to
share the gospel message with others. My Dad was saved a few years
later, and all of us 5 kids were saved, and married believers. Now,
that man never knew how God used his testimony and that tract.
Maybe, he's been told after he got to Heaven." Praise the Lord for
that testimony!
We remember back in the
late 1980s we went into Sydney to see some American Navy ships that
were visiting Australia. A young American sailor took us
on a tour of his ship and during this time David gave him a tract
and asked him if he knew the Lord. He said that he did and after the
tour we thanked him and went on our way. Several years later we
received a letter from this young man telling us his story. He said
that after he left Australia his ship arrived back in the states and
he was discharged from the Navy for drug use. After his discharge he
was walking the streets in San Diego, California and heard an
independent Baptist street preacher and through this he came to know
the Lord. It was some time later he found the tract David had given
him and remembered telling us he was saved. He wrote to tell us that
he was now truly saved and walking with the Lord. Praise the Lord!
Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due
season we shall reap, if we faint not." Please continue to pray for
the salvation of Mark, Adam, John, Ian, and Tim. These are men David
gives tracts to quite regularly.
As the year draws closer to
its conclusion please consider our ministry if the mission budget
allows. If you contact Brother Dan he can tell you
exactly where our support stands. Again we thank each of you for
your financial and prayer support. May we be able to say on that day
that our "
meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish
his work" John 4:34.
Serving the risen and soon
coming Saviour,
David and Pam Bennett, Titus 2:13
