JULY, 2001

Dear Prayer Partners,

Psalm 34:6 "This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles."

What a wonderful verse! There is quite a sermon in that verse. This is what the prince of preacher's said concerning Psalm 34: 6. "He was poor indeed, and so utterly friendless that his life was in great jeopardy; but he cried in his heart to the protector of his people and found relief. His prayer was a cry, for brevity and bitterness, for earnestness and simplicity, for artlessness and grief; it was a poor man's cry, but it was none the less powerful with heaven, for the Lord heard him, and to be heard of God is to be delivered; and so it is added that the Lord saved him out of all his troubles. At once and altogether David was clean rid of all his woes. The Lord sweeps our griefs away as men destroy a hive of hornets, or as the winds clear away the mists. Prayer can clear us of troubles as easily as the Lord made riddance of the frogs and flies of Egypt when Moses entreated him. This verse is the psalmist's own personal testimony: he being dead yet speaketh. Let the afflicted reader take heart and be of good courage."

It is winter and the frost has been on the pumpkin several mornings. Some mornings it almost looks like snow but that doesn't make us homesick for Iowa and the real thing. If it wasn't frost it was fog. A couple of mornings the fog was so thick it was almost 11am before it lifted. David went by to visit Andy and Ellen Thompson. They didn't give any reason as to why they have not been back to church since coming home from Sydney. David didn't ask and they and didn't mention wanting to begin the Bible studies again. The last time they were in a service Andy said nothing was going to keep them from coming. Have you heard that before preachers? They were very cordial and David enjoyed a cuppa (cup of coffee) with them. The doctor in Sydney didn't give Andy much encouragement concerning his heart problem plus one of their daughters (Carolyn) was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Understandably this seems to be a real concern to them. According to Andy she doesn't know the Lord. Some people turn to the Lord and others walk another direction. Please continue to pray for Andy and Ellen who profess to know the Lord and for their unsaved daughter Carolyn. She is a young wife and mother of three children.

One Sunday after dinner David King arrived at our house. He is now working for a farmer in Narromine (about half an hour west of Dubbo). Since he didn't have a vehicle when he attended our services and had to be picked up David asked him whose vehicle he was driving? He said it was the work van. Knowing perhaps what David's purpose in asking he quickly said he had over-slept that morning but had come to Dubbo to look around a few auto part stores for a tool-box. Until he gets his own vehicle from Queensland he didn't think he would be able to get to the services in Dubbo. Pray for David as he is out on his own at only 16 and is somewhat undisciplined. We received the Reconciliation tracts and have been delivering them into letterboxes mostly in Eastridge. This is a large housing estate in which the Thompson's live and where Jonathan (our son) has built his new home. We helped Jonathan move Saturday 7 July. He is a little closer to being ready for the 15 September wedding. 23 July to 23 August our oldest grandson, Taylor, will be visiting us. Taylor is twelve years old and this will be the first time any of our grandchildren have been to Australia. This will be a new experience for him and us. In September Matthew, our youngest, will be flying over to be the best man in Jonathan's wedding. 20 October - 1 November Pastor and Mrs. Van Kleeck will be visiting the Trumbles and us. This will be Pastor's first visit since his call to Evangel a little over one year ago. As you can see the next couple of months will be a time of sweet fellowship with family and friends

We again include our schedule for next year so you can begin to pray for (1) the meetings and (2) the finances for airline tickets and car rental.
