November, 2001

Dear Prayer Partners,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It doesn't seem possible that December is almost here and then into another New Year, Lord willing. The Bible statement "and it came to pass" is so true. All things do come to pass, good and bad. James 4:14 "For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." Time is short so let us be about our Father's business!

As you know we have been planning a mini-furlough beginning February 2002. During the year we have been praying much concerning this and especially during the past few months. There are several contributing factors, which have brought us to the place where we are postponing this mini-furlough until the year 2003. We will mention only two of these factors in this letter. One is the ever-changing flight connections in the US due to the 11 September tragedy. It doesn't look at this time we can be assured of making all the connections at the right time for such a tight schedule. The second factor is the prospect of a radio programme explained further in this letter. We therefore believe the Lord would have us delay the mini-furlough until 2003. We trust this does not cause any problems with our churches. We wanted to inform you before the end of the year so you can reschedule your 2002 church calendar. David will send a new schedule as early as possible next year (2002).

Before we get to far into the letter we want to inform you we had another granddaughter born Friday 26 October to Matthew and Alyson. Her name is Dana Lynn! That gives us four grandsons and three granddaughters. Our tribe continues to increase, praise the Lord! If you would like to view her photo you may go to: and click on web nursery and then click on ia methodist. You will see as we did that she is gorgeous. However, we might be just a little prejudice.

Pastor and Mrs. Van Kleeck arrived 20 October and were with us until Friday 26 October. This was the first time they have been here. He preached for our combined meeting Sunday 21 October where we had three first time visitors. He gave the devotion for a craft day we had at the Jack Towney Hostel (a home for aged and invalid people) in Gilgandra Tuesday 23 October. Thursday 25 October we drove to Warren, which is a little over an hours drive west of Dubbo. There we did tract distribution in letterboxes. Friday 26 October we drove to Parkes where they stayed with another missionary family from Evangel until Thursday 1 November. They flew out of Dubbo Thursday morning 1 November to Sydney and then on to the USA.

We have again started a weekly article in the local newspaper, the Dubbo Daily Liberal. Its size is 10cm X 28cm. We have called the article "Viewpoint" and will be writing about various contemporary issues and Bible doctrines. Our first couple of articles will cover the Baptist distinctives. Pray the Lord will use this to reach the lost for Himself. David has been writing letters to the editor, which have stirred a few comments.

A few years ago David approached the local radio station concerning a radio spot. The cost was prohibitive then and the only time spot we could begin to afford was a one-minute spot at 3am. Well, David took Pastor Van Kleeck to the radio station to see if something reasonable could be purchased now. David was not very confident anything reasonable would be available as most things have increased in cost. They were introduced to the salesman, Tim Moses, and ushered into his office. David told him what he was considering and Mr. Moses said it might be possible to have four or five minutes weekly and of course it would be free. David could not believe he heard that word "free" especially after telling the pastor how expensive it was going to be. Because the station does not want someone to begin a programme and then quit David believes it best to delay our mini-furlough until early in 2003. Mr. Moses said he would turn it over to the programme manager. We are EXCITED about this opportunity.

Again we want to thank you for your prayers and financial giving. We wish you a good Christmas and blessing filled 2002! May the Lord use you and us during these exciting but changing days to proclaim the glorious gospel.
