DECEMBER, 2004

Dear Prayer Partners,

Luke 2: 7 "And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped im in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn."

Christmas greetings from our house to yours. It does not seem possible that it is almost Christmas! May this be a truly special time of the year for each of you. We miss being with our other three children and their families but the Lord has graciously allowed us to have our son, Jonathan, and his wife near by. They will enjoy Christmas dinner with us and then to her parents for Christmas evening.

Christmas here is in the summer and the weather certainly indicates summer is here in its glory. The past few days it has been well over 100 degrees. Then there are the locusts, which have devoured our grass, and now it is the heat. But as Paul said he learned that "whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content" and that includes summer in New South Wales, Australia.

Psalm 128:6 "Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children..."

Proverbs 17:6 "Children's children are the crown of old men..."

Before we forget, and there is not much chance of that, our youngest child, Matthew, and his wife, Alyson, had their third child, first son, November 18. Seth David came into this world at 10.58am on the 18th November. He weighed 10 pounds 5 ounces. As one friend said "He came out running." Dad, mum and baby are doing fine!

Technology is wonderful, most of the time. The hospital took a photo of Seth before he left hospital for home and we were then able to go to the hospital web site and download his photo and sign the guestbook. What a thrill it was to see a photo of our new grandson so soon after his birth! God is good!!!

Praise the Lord, last month we had an unsaved young lady attend the Dubbo fellowship, Western Plains Baptist. Tracy is a nurse at the local hospital and had been in Dubbo six weeks. She wanted to learn how to sew and heard about Pam so scheduled a lesson. David went to pick up Pam after the lesson and in his conversation with Tracy invited her to the Sunday Bible study. She said she would come and did. Please pray for the Lord to work in Tracy's heart unto salvation.

We also received a telephone call one Saturday afternoon from Margaret in Gilgandra. Her husband, Michael, is also an announcer on the community radio. She invited us to their house for a cup of tea after our Gilgandra service 7 November. We accepted and had a good visit but did not get a real opportunity to clearly explain the gospel. Pray for Michael, Margaret and their teen son, Nathanial.

The 28th November was our 84th Sunday programme of The Gospel Hour. We also have two hours on Fridays, CrossTalk, and only the Lord knows how many listen at any one time. We continue to pray that we will see some listener come to know the Lord. Please pray with us for this outreach.

We want to thank all those who sent cards and money to celebrate our anniversary in September and Pam's birthday in November. THANK YOU! Your thoughtfulness at these special times means a lot. Birthdays and anniversaryís remind us that like Job our "...days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle..." and those future plans are come upon us before we know it. As many of you know the American dollar has dropped considerably against many of the world's currencies. As the Aussie dollar continues to climb against the US dollar this has a great impact on us. We would ask you to pray that a few churches may increase their support this coming year. Thank you.

The past two weeks we have received word from two Australian home missionaries, both in South Australia. One of these our fellowship has supported for the past three years. He is closing the work down as of the 19th of December and going to an independent Baptist church in Brisbane as the assistant pastor. He wrote "As you have read from our regular Prayer/News letters, we have tried & used many ways to reach souls at Port Adelaide ( via radio, tracts, visitation, film-nights, hayrides, evangelistic meetings, etc. ) with Godís help, many lives have been touched because of your faithful support. Unfortunately though, there has been little numerical growth to the church itself, and as a result we have been brought to our knees in prayer & fasting to seek Godís will for the future of LIGHTHOUSE BC, and our family." He wrote that "after much prayer, counsel and confirmation from Godís Word we have decided to close LIGHTHOUSE BC. (with our last service being held on December 19th, 2004.)" The other Australian has not yet made his decision but he wrote "As things stand, purely from the human standpoint, we cannot continue to operate." Australia is a spiritually hard land and we cannot emphasize how much we need your prayers.

Thank you for supporting us with your prayers and finances this past year. May the Lord give you a good Christmas and blessing filled 2005 serving Him!

Your Missionaries to Australia,

David and Pam Bennett, Titus 2:13
