Dear Friends in Christ,

Psalm 86:12 “I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.”

Isaiah 55:10 “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater.

Winter is here and the much needed rains have come as well. We have been experiencing the worse drought in over 100 years, so these rains are very welcome and perhaps will help break the drought. In the north they are experiencing heavy flooding. Many farmers in our area have decided not to plant a winter crop but undoubtedly with the rains they will look forward to spring planting now.

Psalm 135:3 “Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good…” Our oldest grandchild, 16 year old Taylor, will be spending his summer, our winter, with us. He will be here until 9 August when he flies back to Chattanooga, TN giving him 6 days to rest up before school begins.  We thank the Lord for this privilege as this is our first grandchild to visit us on the field!

On the Friday radio programme, CrossTalk, David is reading the little booklet, ULTIMATE QUESTIONS, by John Blanchard. Some of the chapters include; IS ANYONE THERE? and IS GOD SPEAKING? David began this eight chapter booklet the last Friday of June. Pray the Lord will use it in bringing some lost soul unto Himself.

On Sunday’s Gospel Hour we are using Bible readings on CD by Alexander Scourby. We have begun the book of Revelation believing 1Peter 1:23 “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”

David’s father lives alone and in April he took a spill and had to go into hospital. He spent almost two weeks in the Ottumwa hospital before being transferred to Iowa City. He was in Iowa City almost one week and was then transferred to Bloomfield Iowa into assisted care. After a couple of weeks in assisted care he is now back in his home. He will be 83 in July. His short term memory is not very good but we thank the Lord that he knows the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. Even after eighty three years one could say with Job that “My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle…” Job 7:6

Pam’s mother had cataract surgery and was living with Pam’s eldest sister until she could function again on her own. She is back in her own home with one of the daughter-in-laws, who lives close by, making sure she takes her medication regularly. Thank you for continuing to pray for Hazel’s salvation.

As some of you know David has written several letters to the editor of the local paper. His letters have been directed on various subjects with a couple of letters centring on the abominable sin of sodomy. We recently received an email from Great Britain saying “The Devil is at work as never before… It concerns 'homosexuality' and what reactions we might expect if (when?) we speak out against this abominable sin and stand up for 'righteousness'!!” The email went on to say that "Following a review of the activities of Christian Voice, we wish to give you notice that we require you to close your account with the Co-operative Bank plc. It has come to our attention that Christian Voice is engaged in discriminatory pronouncements, based on the grounds of sexual orientation. This public stance is incompatible with the position of the Co-operative Bank, which publicly supports diversity, in all its forms, for our staff, customers and other stakeholders." Please pray for us as the same may happen here in the not so far future.

Then there is the matter of speaking forthrightly that salvation is only through faith in Jesus Christ. The following is from the Melbourne newspaper Herald Sun;

Free speech farce by Andrew Bolt  24jun05  PREMIER Steve Bracks promised four years ago to give us "racial and religious tolerance" if we gave up our free speech.

What fools people were to believe him.  You could see the "tolerance" his vilification laws gave us this week when two pastors became the first to be punished, after criticising the Koran.  Police were posted outside the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to watch Christians and Muslims bicker, and the pastors – Daniel Scot and Danny Nalliah – were escorted by security guards.  Protesters waved placards, and in a radio interview a heated Nalliah was told by a hostile ABC presenter to "mind your p's and q's" and had his reply censored.  All this before he and Scot were even jailed – as they likely will be – for refusing to accept the unfair punishment ordered by Justice Michael Higgins.” 2 Timothy 2: 9 “Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.”

In closing this epistle we encourage you to continue praying for souls to be saved. Spurgeon in his Words of Counsel for Christian Workers says the soul winner weeps “…because of the hardness of men’s hearts. He thought, at first, he should only have to tell these great truths and men would leap for joy. Have you never seen fancy pictures at the head of our missionary magazines, of respectable gentlemen dressed in black suits, landing out of boats manned by devout sailors, carrying Bibles in their hands, and these well-to-do evangelists are surrounded by Turks and Chinese, black people and copper-colored people, who are running down to the sea-shore and taking these precious Bibles in their hands and looking as if they had found a priceless treasure? Ah, it is all in the picture, it is nowhere else — the thing does not occur, natives of barbarous isles and heathen kingdoms do not receive the gospel in that way. Heralds of the cross have to do a deal of rough work, and toil on; for the gospel, which ought to be welcomed is rejected; and as there was no room for Christ in the inn, when He became incarnate, so there is no room for the gospel in the hearts of mankind. Yes, and this makes us weep, since where there should be so much readiness to accept, there is so much obstinacy and rebellion.”

Finally, we want to thank each of you for your prayers and financial support. Romans 15:30 “Now I (we) beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me (us) in your prayers to God for me (us).”

Joyfully Serving the Risen Saviour,
