Dear Prayer Partners,

Micah 6: 8 "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; ad what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" Spurgeon preaching Micah 6:8 said in his sermon WALKING HUMBLY WITH GOD that "It cannot be that the declarations of God need to be supplemented by opinions, and views, and excogitations of our own. ‘He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good’; let this suffice us, and, ceasing to theorize, let us practically obey. Let us become disciples, and in this frame of mind we shall gain one of the first essentials of true worship."

Almost each day in August we have been distributing Gospel of John and Romans from house to house. As we distribute these Scripture portions our prayer is the Lord will "open their eyes, and…turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me" Acts 26:18. Our radio programmes are centred on one’s need for Christ as their Saviour but sometimes one wonders if anyone is reading the Gospel of John and Romans distributed or listening to the programmes presented. God does say that those without Christ have their spiritual "understanding darkened" and are "alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart" Ephesians 4:18. It can sometimes be discouraging but the Lord is good! The other day He led us to read about a Mr. Francis Smith who was born in Melbourne, South Derbyshire England in 1719. He had lost both parents when he was sixteen and "being left without restraint, he gave reins to his lusts for seven years…" Out of curiosity he attended a Methodist meeting "which aroused him to a sense of his danger." He then "attended preaching of every denomination, and at length went to hear the Baptist preachers at Barton, and after comparing their doctrine with the Scriptures for more than a year, he reposed all his hopes of salvation on the Lord Jesus, whom he found to be his righteousness." God has never renounced the great commission! Perhaps the Lord has a Francis Smith waiting to read one of the Gospel of John and Romans or to hear one of the radio programmes. A Scriptural perspective keeps one focused and looking to "the Lord of the harvest" Luke 10: 2.

Our laser printer (now two years old) had to go back into the shop. It was in the shop in January of this year and the $300 OPC belt was replaced thankfully free of charge. The same problem has occurred again. The technician said he would send it back and ask why it is continuing to do the same thing and hopefully they will have an answer and the belt will again be replaced without cost to us.

In closing it is sad some churches are attempting to fill the spiritual vacuum of the unsaved with the husks of the world. One church school in town has a 28 piece band that recently won acclaim in Sydney. The local paper said the school’s band will "shine when it takes to the stage on the opening night of the Dubbo Jazz Festival." The article also said "The band will" entertain at another venue in August "with a repertoire of songs from the Dixieland and swing eras through to contemporary rock." The Scriptures say it is only Christ that "satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness" Psalm 107:9.

Again we thank each of you for your financial and prayer support.
