February - March, 2011

Dear Prayer Supporters,

Ephesians 1:2, 3 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

This month (February) we will have been in Australia thirty two years. It doesnt seem possible sometimes and at other times it seems longer. Depends on the day I guess. I remember way back when we were younger and the enthusiasm we had in a new land when door-knocking and speaking to people about their souls need for Christ. The Lord blessed and we saw many profess the Lord Jesus and follow Him in the waters of baptism. Many years later, and now in a country town rather than the big city, we still are motivated in sharing the gospel but unfortunately have not seen the same results. Is it us or is it the place, or the season and day in which we live? Each day may we ask the Lord in all sincerity Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts Psalm 139:23! Concerning this verse C. H. Spurgeon aptly writes The dead letters, worn smooth by frequent use, may drop freely from callous lips, leaving no sense of scalding on the conscience; and yet, truth of God though they are, they may be turned into a lie in the act of utterance. With that said Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.  Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful 1Corinthians 4:1, 2.

IMG_2502.jpgAs we reported in our last December January letter, Dubbo was flooded but Dubbos flooding was not as bad as that which took place in Queensland and made world news. Dubbos flood did however close a lot of businesses for a few weeks. All seems to be back to normal now. The photo is of Caleb and Keirsten looking at one of the flooded streets in the city. We were also exempt from the cyclones which recently ravished Australia.

On Christmas Day our air-conditioner gave up. Most tradesmen do not go back to work until mid-January so it wasnt until the 19th of January we could get an electrician to look at it and tell us it needed a new control unit. The unit was ordered and as of today, 9th of February, it has not arrived. So we have spent some of the hottest summer days (many over 100 degrees) without air. In Dubbo and other towns there were outages due to so many air-conditioners operating and putting too much stress on the power grid. At least we did not contribute to the outages. The bad side of all this is the cost for repair is over one thousand dollars but the bright side is since it was broke our electric bill should be smaller.

DSCF3501.JPGOn the 11th of January our 12th grandchild was born, Joshua Jonathan Bennett. He is our third Australian grandchild and seventh grandson. He is a cutie which no one can deny. He has been in each church service since he came home from the hospital. Proverbs 17:6 Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. The spiritually perceptive Matthew Henry in commenting on this verse said It is an honour to parents when they are old to leave children, and childrens children, growing up, that tread in the steps of their virtues, and are likely to maintain and advance the reputation of their families. It is an honour to a man to live so long as to see his children's children (Ps 128:6; Ge 50:23), to see his house built up in them, and to see them likely to serve their generation according to the will of God. This crowns and completes their comfort in this world.

As we begin a fresh year please pray for us and:

1.     Souls to be saved (Oh, the anguish and eternal torment those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ will suffer.)

2.     Obedience to baptism after salvation

3.     Radio broadcasts on http://989warfm.com/ (Friday 2 4pm CrossTalk and

Sunday The Gospel Hour 1 2pm. Windows Media Player must be your default player to listen to the programmes. I will let you figure out the difference in time. We have a local audience but we have not yet seen or heard anything spiritually come of the programmes. We do thank the Lord these programmes only cost us two things, time and petrol. Not bad for three hours of free air time!

4.     The US dollar is now below parity with the Australian dollar. This means living is even more expensive. For every one US dollar you will (today 9th of February) receive .95 cents Australian (Note, each bank is different but where we bank, St. George, it was .95 today.)

Thank you again for your prayers and financial support. May The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace Numbers 6:24 - 26.

In His service,

David and Pam Bennett
