MARCH - APRIL, 2012

Dear Friends in Christ,

Yes, our physical hearts have been diagnosed with some physical problems but as the Psalmist said As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my (our) soul after thee, O God Psalm 42:1. Also Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you 1Peter 5:7.

We leave Monday, 19 March for Sydney and Westmead Hospital which is a five hour drive. Pam has appointments with the surgeon and others Tuesday and Wednesday with surgery scheduled for Thursday 22 March. Our daughter will be flying in from Atlanta the 19th and meeting us at the hospital. Pam is scheduled to be in hospital for seven days after the surgery so we should be driving back home hopefully on the 29th or 30th of March.

This year saw us celebrate 33 years here in Australia. As with you we have grown older and during this time has crept these new physical experiences. A friend recently emailed the following 17th century prayer to us and we thought we would share it with you. It speaks to those of us who are growing older and someday will be old!

A 17th Century Prayer

Lord, thou knowest better than I know myself

that I am growing older and someday will be old.

Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking

I must say something on every subject

and on every occasion.

Release me from craving to straighten out

everybodys affairs.

Make me thoughtful but not moody.

helpful but not bossy with my vast store

of wisdom—

it seems a pity not to use it all,

but thou knowest, Lord,

that I want a few friends at the end.

Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details,

give me wings to get to port safely.

Seal my lips on my aches and pains.  They are increasing

and the love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter

as the years go by.

I dare not ask for grace enough to enjoy the tales of others,

but help me to endure them with patience.

I dare not ask for improved memory, but for a growing

humility and a lessening cocksureness when my memory

seems to clash with the memories of others.

teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally

I may be mistaken.

Keep me reasonably sweet.  I do not want to be a sour

old person—some of them are so hard to live with

and each a crowning work of the devil.

Give me the ability to see good thing in unexpected places.

And give me, O Lord, the grace to tell them so.

Amen.

Thank you so much for your prayers, financial support and gifts to alleviate some of the current expenses due to our travelling and lodging during these medical treatments.  I had the pacemaker checked Friday and the cardiologist said all was well.

The world continues its fast pace to hell but may the Lord use you and us in helping someone along the way to come to a saving knowledge of Him, our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

In His Care,

David & Pam Bennett
