MILLENNIAL GREETINGS

Time twists and turns as we walk, run, or stumble on its path.
Who would have thought we would live this long?
‘Tis true--some who were most beloved are gone!
"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
For what is your life?
It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time,
and then vanisheth away."
James 4:14

JULY IS HERE ALREADY

Here it is July, and I am just starting to write to you. My, where does the time go? It is rather frightening to see the days go by so quickly into months and then into years. Here we sit--Pastor Waite and I--in our seventies watching the minutes tick by. I think of that gospel song that I sometimes sing, "I wonder have I done my best for Jesus?" I sang it when we were first married almost fifty-two years ago--that’s when my husband was a seminary student in Dallas, Texas--and I sing it today, asking the same question. Am I really doing my BEST for Him? How about YOU? It is a burning question.

ONLY ONE LIFE ‘TWILL SOON BE PAST,
ONLY WHAT’S DONE FOR CHRIST WILL LAST!

BFT Baptist Church NEWS

As you know, we have a church in our house here at 900 Park Avenue, Collingswood, NJ. Took all the furniture out of the living room and now have 49 chairs in place, a grand piano, an organ, lamps, a table, pulpit, sound system, four video cameras, and flowers.

Pastor Waite just finished the book of Philemon last week. So far, in the year and a half that we’ve had the church, he has taught the book of Romans, I Peter, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon. He takes a half a chapter a week and teaches us the old-fashioned way--verse by verse. His plan was to finish Paul’s prison epistles and now continue, Lord willing, with Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth, 1 Corinthians. That will take at least 32 weeks. There will be 13 audio cassettes (@$3 each) and 8 videos (@ $15 each) + S&H. Hope you order these from us.

My husband’s goal is not to increase in numbers (though that is good and we enjoy that) but to teach the Bible to those who want to hear and learn it. In this day of MEGA-CHURCHES, he is an unusual pastor. WE USE THE KING JAMES BIBLE AND SING THE OLD FASHIONED HYMNS. In this short time, the church has reached in our church room 123 households--of course they don’t all come at once, and some have dropped out completely.

We welcome visitors and have beautiful music. MR. DICK CARROLL IS OUR PIANIST AND THERE IS NONE BETTER ANYWHERE. Have you got his tape yet? (BFT #2968/01 @$4.00 +$2.00 S&H) or MAYBE YOU’D LIKE TO HEAR ME SING simple gospel songs . With MR. CARROLL at the piano, he MAKES ME SOUND GOOD. (Ask for "94 FAVORITE HYMNS FOR PASTOR JOAH’S CHURCH IN LIBERIA" BFT #2584/1-2 @$7.00 +$2.00 S&H).

All our church services and messages are on both video and audio so you, too, can enjoy them in the quietness of your home or car. Some of our friends are ordering them. The two sermon audio tapes are $4.00 +$2.00 S&H, and the four sermon video tapes are $15.00 +$3.05 S&H. All the sermons but Romans have been aired on WTMR-800 AM, a local radio station, and many on WOEL-FM 89.9mhz out of Elkton, Md, on WTBI out of Greenville, SC area, as well as WGTG SHORT WAVE @ 6.890 (upper side band) and the INTERNET @ www.tabernacleministries.org every Sunday night 6-7p.m. eastern. It’s thrilling to watch God work!

EDITOR/WRITER DAVID CLOUD OF "O’ TIMOTHY"
WILL BE WITH US AT OUR CHURCH

JULY 23, 2000 AT 10:00a.m. and 2:00 p.m. for Questions

AFTER THE DEAN BURGON MEETING IN ELKTON, BROTHER DAVID CLOUD HAS ACCEPTED DR. WAITE’S INVITATION TO SPEAK IN OUR CHURCH THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY, JULY 23RD. Pastor Waite is glad to welcome this man to his pulpit. The church provides the O’ TIMOTHY magazine for all who attend and our people are very well acquainted with David Cloud’s writings and ministry. We probably will have also a 2:00 p.m. "after lunch" meeting. (Plans are still in the making.) Write, E-mail, or call concerning times and your interest. I just wanted you to know about July 23rd in case you wanted to be with us for this special occasion.

"Just For Women"

A NEW WEEKLY RADIO PROGRAM
Every Friday 11:45 a.m.--12 Noon
WTMR (800 AM) Camden, New Jersey

Am excited! I’ve already recorded, at this writing, the first four broadcasts! You can order them, too, if you want. (ASK FOR B FT #JFW/01 @ $4.00 +$2.00 S&H.) I will be speaking on subjects close to my heart, subjects that God has helped me with, personally, in my own life. This particular radio series is on Psalm 16:6. The Lord used that passage for me personally a few years ago, concerning the "lines" which had "fallen unto me in pleasant places" to comfort me concerning the "All things" (Romans 8:28) in my life. PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS NEW MISSIONARY ENDEAVOR that our Bible For Today Baptist Church will be able to reach out to women far and near with comfort and exhortation. My husband is my announcer, and Mr. Dick Carroll is at the piano and organ. Let me quote for you the opening, and then you can understand our purpose:

"Listen to Yvonne Sanborn Waite speak from HER heart to your need. Pause a moment and care. ‘Just For Women’ is an unusual broadcast for women ‘in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation.’ Yvonne Waite deals Biblically with the many issues facing women today. The Bible tells the older women to ‘speak. . . the things which become sound doctrine’ and ‘teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands that the Word of God be not blasphemed.’"

Were You There?

MEETINGS, MEETINGS, MEETINGS
GLOUCESTER CITY, NEW JERSEY

In my last UPDATE, I forgot to tell you about a presentation given to my husband in March, 2000. It was from PASTOR JIM DOSTER and the people at LIGHTHOUSE BAPTIST CHURCH in nearby Gloucester City, New Jersey. My husband

had given several hours of teaching on the textual subject at the church’s annual soul-winning conference (BFT #2982 @ $4.00 S&H). As an appreciation for Dr. Waite’s work in the defense of the King James Bible and its underlying texts, the pastor called him to the platform one evening and handed my husband this beautiful plaque which reads:

DEFENDER OF THE FAITH
PRESENTED TO
Dr. D. A. Waite
For his tireless devotion to
the defense of the King James Bible

POXINUS, PENNSYLVANIA

In May, my husband had four nights from a Sunday evening until Wednesday with PASTOR KEVIN KLINE and his congregation at VICTORY BIBLE CHURCH. They have a very interesting church. The whole area is near Danville, Pa., not too far from Montgomery. For a year and a half or so, they met in the basement of the pastor’s old farm house, bought some property out there in the country, and built a basement church. It looks something like a bomb shelter on the outside because it is built into a hill, but inside it is most comfortable--a carpeted auditorium, neat, a new piano, an organ, one classroom, and two lovely new restrooms. In time, as the Lord prospers, they will probably build a regular building on top of the basement. Will they ever have the grass to mow! It was just discovered that some old cemetery is hiding in the "jungle" of trees and bushes adjacent to the church property. We were driven over there and by using our imaginations, we could see some ancient tomb stones half down or flat on the ground. My husband and I are very interested in old grave-stones, but I did not want to go into the area, lest I get a tick or two; but I could see an American flag by one of the Revolutionary War Veteran’s graves. I don’t know how the veterans ever found the grave to decorate it--but they did.

Pastor Kline, who does TENT MAKING by selling H-U-G-E new and second-hand truck tires, asked my husband to teach his people the reasons he feels that the King James Bible is the best translation of the Greek and Hebrew languages that it is based upon. While there, Pastor Kline and my husband were on a daily talk show with questions and answers. We were treated to many restaurants and long trips getting there. I gained back all the weight I’d been losing! Oh, well!

MOTHER’S DAY LUNCHEON IN ELKTON, MD.

It is always refreshing to be at MARANATHA BAPTIST CHURCH in Elkton, Maryland; but this particular May gathering of their ladies for luncheon in their school dining room was a pleasure. MRS. JEANNE DOW, the DEAN OF WOMEN at MARYLAND BIBLE COLLEGE is a gracious hostess and made us feel at home. My husband was the only man in the group, but we both enjoyed the interesting conversation with those at our table. Afterwards, I put on my "FRANCES HAVERGAL"outfit, wig, and hat, and came into the church auditorium to wait for my husband, the narrator, to introduce me as "Frances." She is a blessing of a woman, sick most of her life, a Bible teacher, a pianist, a soloist who devoted her energy for her King, the Lord Jesus Christ. She said, "I am a worker for Jesus!" Oh, that all of us were!

To refresh your memory, she wrote songs like "Take My Life and Let It Be," "Like a River Glorious," "I Gave My Life for Thee," etc. Though this particular Portrait Of Frances Havergal was not recorded (the piano selection should have been--it was beautiful!), we do have the audio and video of the portrayal ("TAKE MY LIFE--A Portrait of Frances Ridley Havergal"--HYMNIST, BFT# 1417/TP $4.00 +$2.00 S&H, or the video BFT # 1417/VCR $15.00 +$3.50 S&H). The BFT has the same GIFT offer for THE TRIBUTE TO FANNY CROSBY, too.

MEETINGS IN MARYLAND & SOUTH CAROLINA
ON AUDIO AND VIDEO

In case you did not read the MAY BFT UPDATE, we had two major meetings in March--one in ELKTON, MARYLAND at the MARANATHA BAPTIST CHURCH on Old Elk Neck Road where the DEAN BURGON SOCIETY is holding its 22nd annual meeting in July, 19-20, 2000; and the other March meeting was in GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA at TABERNACLE BAPTIST CHURCH on White Horse Road . What a month! I VIDEOED EVERY WORD OF ALL THE SPEAKERS at PASTOR ALLEN DICKERSON’S CHURCH in Elkton, MD:

DR. D. A. WAITE on Fundamentalist MIS-INFORMATION (BFT #2978/VCR @ $15.00+ $3.00 S&H,

BFT#2978/1-2TP @ $7.00 +$2.00 S&H)

Editor Don Jasmin on various subjects (BFT #2980/VCR @ $15.00 +$3.00 S&H, or BFT #2980/1-2TP @ $7.00 + $2.00 S&H)

Pastor Gary Webb on various subjects (BFT #2981/VCR @ $15.00 +$3.00 S&H, or BFT # 2981/1-2TP @ $7.00 + $2.00 S&H)

Evangelist Bill Behrens on HELL, etc. (BFT 2979/VCR @ $15.00+$3.00 S&H, BFT #2979/TP @ $4.00+S&H)

Also I videoed all of DR. WAITE’S MESSAGES at DR. MELVIN AIKEN’S CHURCH IN GREENVILLE, SC (BFT #2983/VCR @ $15.00 +$3.00 S&H; the audio is BFT #2983/1-2TP @ $7.00 + $2.00 S&H. ). It was not the first time that Dr. Waite preached at TABERNACLE BAPTIST in Greenville, S. C. PASTOR & MRS. MELVIN AIKEN were gracious hosts. He is a brave man of King James Bible conviction, and willing to stand for the King James Bible and its texts in the face of a giant university in his same town. Not many pastors would do that, you know!

One of the joys of going to Greenville is visiting with Dr. & Mrs. James H. Sightler. They took us out for lunch and showed us his medical office. My husband and he have become friends through Dr. Sightler’s study of the issues found in THE HERESIES OF WESTCOTT & HORT (BFT #595 @ $4.00 + $2.00 S&H). We see him and his wife and children at the annual DEAN BURGON SOCIETY meeting every year. James H. Sightler, M.D., is a researcher and gives so much at these annual meetings that we can hardly comprehend it all. That is why it is good he has published a 298-page book that you surely should get! It is A TESTIMONY FOUNDED FOREVER (BFT #2954 @ $19.00 +$3.50 S&H). This is "must" reading for the continued realization that Westcott and Hort were not true believers.

DR. WAITE, AS YOU MAY RECALL, HAS WRITTEN HIS BOOK, Fundamentalist MIS-INFORMATION on Bible Versions (BFT #2974 @ $7.00+$3.00 S&H). IT ANSWERS AT LEAST 118 FALSE STATEMENTS FOUND IN "THE MIND" BOOK. If you haven’t read it--get it! It’s good vacation reading!

ANCHOR BAPTIST CHURCH
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
JULY 22--26, 2000

With only a few short days between DBS/2000 in Maryland, my husband and I will be flying to Salt Lake City to be with Pastor Corkish and his Anchor Baptist Church in Salt Lake City. That church is on 1880 East 5600 Street, and the phone number is 801-272-9405. I’ve been asked to do "THE PORTRAIT OF FRANCES HAVERGAL" while there, too. (I hope I have some pep left. Ha!) To be truthful, I’m not sure what my husband’s subject is but I suppose it is his refutation of that book which was pushed by Bob Jones University at their big conference last year called FROM THE MIND OF GOD TO THE MIND OF MAN. [This is correct. DAW]

"CHRISTIAN WORK"??

That reminds me of the question I’ve been asking myself, "WHAT REALLY IS ‘CHRISTIAN WORK?’"

I’m afraid many a seminary or Bible school student has a rude awakening when he discovers that "Christian work" is starting the fire in the furnace of an old country church and having no one come to hear your sermon except a deaf man, his grandson, and your wife and children. "Christian work" is collecting the rubbish after a Daily Vacation Bible School picnic, to say nothing of putting stamps on letters or typing bulletins on a computer that doesn’t respond properly to commands. "Christian work" is a youth pastor, with years of seminary Greek and Hebrew driving the church bus--his hands covered with grease. "Christian work" is fixing the flat tire on the church bus. "Christian work" is caring for souls and loving the unlovely and having them talk about you behind your back. "Christian work" is time given to others and taken away from your own family. "Christian work" is showing up on your pastor’s doorstep and volunteering for a job. "Christian work" is not talking about doing it, but doing it! "Christian work" is the senior pastor passing a "sop" to his assistant pastor to preach on Labor Day. "Christian work" is attending your church faithfully, being someone the pastor can count on. "Christian work" is a young woman, trained in voice and diction, changing dirty diapers in the nursery for fourteen years. "Christian work" is having young men leave your church to work in other churches. "Christian work" is being part of the church kitchen’s crew.

"Christian work" is staying true to your convictions and being ridiculed for doing so. "Christian work" is missing holidays with family and not seeing brothers and sisters for years. "Christian work" is passing out a tract to the local merchant. "Christian work" is bringing your children to church. "Christian work" is having a church member get mad at your wife and visiting the same member the next day in intensive care. "Christians work" is taking a turn in the nursery. "Christian work" is laboring in your local church--ushering, parking cars, smiling, sharing rides, shaking hands, welcoming strangers, running sweepers, bringing flowers, getting chairs, and teaching children when you’d rather have an adult class. "Christians work" is handing out church bulletins in the neighborhood. "Christian work" is volunteering for house-to-house visitation and going out by yourself. "Christian work" is receiving gifts and complimentary letters, and having the same gift-giver get miffed in a few months and stop coming to church. "Christian work" is having your feelings hurt, long hours, telephone calls, and having convictions that won’t go away. "Christian work" is the American flag burned in front of your house or a rock thrown through your front window. "Christian work," in many ways, is like any other work that a person does. It isn’t glamourous. It’s time consuming. It’s often thankless. In short it is W-O-R-K. It’s whatsoever your hand findeth to do and doing it with all your might.

"Christian work" is putting your hand to the plow and not turning back!

ALWAYS IN GOD’S CARE (I Peter 5:6-11),
