LIVE STREAMING OF KJB SEMINAR #10 IN CHESTERTON, INDIANA

It was a week ago today that Dr. Waite and I flew back from Chicago's O'HARE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT back to Philadelphia, via Rapid Rover transportation and home.  You may be asking yourself, "Why were the WAITES in Chicago?"  GOOD QUESTION!  It certainly wasn't to walk the vast concourses of that mammoth airport!  It is huge--full of people, and tiring.  It certainly wasn't to become a part of the never-ending traffic, or  to view the Sears Tower, or see one of  the largest stone quarries in the country--though both were interesting.  Nor was it to drive down by the Indiana  Dunes, once again, to enjoy Lake Michigan's cool breezes--though that was good, too.  No, my husband was in INDIANA to present THE TENTH KING JAMES BIBLE SEMINAR as a college module at FAIRHAVEN BAPTIST CHURCH AND COLLEGE in Chesterton, Indiana.  That is a two-hour car ride from the windy city.  This visit to Chesterton was Dr. Waite's fourth time that PASTOR ROGER VOEGTLIN, the senior pastor and founder of the ministry, had invited my husband to his church  & college.  It was Pastor Waite's third KJB Seminar at Fairhaven Baptist College.

A BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS
Personally, I always enjoy my stay at FAIRHAVEN.  The campus, which is located on 86 East Oak Hill Road in Chesterton, Indiana 46304, is absolutely beautiful.  Though it is not as large as some of the huge Christian Universities you may be acquainted with, it is as beautiful, if not more so.  Not only are the buildings big and beautiful, the church sanctuary large and inviting, but the campus is carpeted with green grass, lovely trees of every kind, bushes of various hues, and flowers, as well as lovely walkways. It is all designed with an artful eye and skilled hand. One cannot help but think of God's creation and his mighty power when drinking in the beauty of the place and seeing the calm lake bordering the grounds.  People just come there to do their daily walking!  I was one of them.  I loved walking the road over to the horses and houses where many of the faculty live.   Of course, I never got that far for fear I wouldn't make it back.  I'm not the walker I used to be, you know.

NEW RADIO STATIONS   
With this shorter-type BFT UPDATE format, I can't always enlarge on the trivial news or even personal antidotes.  But I did want  to mention that  I spoke to a group of women in South Jersey on "YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE" (BFT #3271 @ $4.00 + $1.00 S&H. Someone may say to you, "You really don't know who I am."   It is true, we only "let out"to people what we want them to know about us and then, sometimes, that is completely misunderstood.  That night I reviewed the years of  my early life as a sick child and how it made me who I am.  What are some of your early experiences?  What has made you who you are?   I followed up that talk with a JUST FOR WOMEN radio broadcast, WHO AM I? & WHO ARE YOU? (JFW#86 @ $4.00+$1.00 S&H.

"DRUMS' DISTRACTIONS" & "A CHURCH SEARCH" (JFW#83 @ $4+$1 S&P) were two interviews with our daughter who is finding it most difficult to find a good church.  This seems to be a problem for many Christians lately.  Getting good music, good teaching, and the right Bible in one church has become a problem.  A good church seems to be an extinct entity since the "purpose driven" philosophy and the charismatic feel-good emphasis has been in vogue.   You also might like to hear "Why We Need Good Fathers," too (JFW#85 @ $4+$1 S&H).

DR. WAITE HAS THREE RADIO PROGRAMS WHICH AIR WEEKLY.  Two of them defend the King James Bible and its underlying Greek, Hebrew, & Aramaic texts (one is a five-minute-daily one, one is a half-hour weekly.  Both in defense of traditional Bible texts.)    He also has a one-hour weekly  BFT Baptist Church broadcast which airs his church sermons, as well as  MR. DICK CARROLL at the  piano and a vocal soloist.   Right now, my husband is preaching from 2 CORINTHIANS.   He just finished the sixth chapter where he taught about ecclesiastical separation.  ("SEPARATION FROM UNBELIEVERS," BFT #3287/06 @ $4+ $1 S&H) Why not ask him about his other radio programs that defend the King James Bible or feature his weekly sermons.   RIGHT NOW HE IS DEFENDING BIBLE PRESERVATION on the air.  Who would have thought that this subject would have to be defended among fundamentalists?  But it does.

NEW YORK STATE AGAIN IN AUGUST
After the DEAN BURGON SOCIETY'S annual meeting July 19-20 in Wisconsin, we have a week up in Northern New York State at a camp/Bible conference.  We have been going several years to the CHRISTIAN LAKE BIBLE CONFERENCE there on Star Route, in Stratford NY (355 Perkins Mill Road.)  It is a quiet place.  You do your own cooking or go to a nearby place to eat.  Call for reservations for your trailer or a cabin 570-672-8628.  My husband will be teaching 2 Peter.  I know you'll be blessed and enjoy the fresh air.

GOD'S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT IN "REPROACHES"
I have been very impressed with a new look at 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 this past year.  It is nothing profound, but has comforted me greatly and challenged me as a pastor's wife, or really, just as a Christian woman.  We often stand in the path of  criticism and condemnation.  Sometimes the slightest word, that we think is fine, offends others.   Sometimes a look or an action is taken the wrong way.  Trying to stay balanced on such a tight-rope is emotionally exhausting.

Please look at the passage with me right now.  Drop your eyes down past our usual comfort zone from the words, "My grace is sufficient...my strength is made perfect.., and glance by the words, "gladly. . . glory in my infirmities."  Don't stop there.  Now notice what we are to "take pleasure in."  SEE?  Not only are we to "glory" in our infirmities" (at least Paul did) but we are to "take pleasure" in them.  If that wasn't hard enough, notice what else we are to "take pleasure" in.   WE ARE TO "TAKE PLEASURE. . . IN REPROACHES"!!  THE APOSTLE PAUL DID.

Now I don't know Greek, but I do know English.  So I looked "reproaches" up in my old dictionary and found the first meaning of the word to mean "to rebuke, censor, upbraid."  (The further clarification definitions don't get any better.)  "Pleasure"  in rebuke?--in censoring?--in upbraiding?   It's almost an impossible assignment.  The Apostle Paul declared that he took "pleasure" in being censored.   (Of course, we couldn't see him all the time, so maybe he had a relapse or two.)

We know that Paul had that "thorn."   He didn't want it.  He asked God to remove it.   He learned to live with it.  He said it was from Satan, and I believe him.  We are not told exactly what Paul's "thorn" was.  This way you and I can put our "thorns" in its place.  That way, we cannot escape God's sufficient grace and perfected strength in weakness.  Satan used it to "buffet" Paul.  He used the "thorn" on Paul as a  a punching bag.   Also, we read that upright Job was buffeted by Satan, too.  In fact, God pointed out His man, Job, to Satan, and gave permission to persecute the Patriarch.  We read of Jeremiah's grief.  He suffered bitterness in his innermost soul.  Part of the mental gymnastic of human humbling and physical pressures was Paul's  acceptance of  the "reproaches" and  criticism that came his way.  Those "reproaches"  followed him wherever he journeyed.  He found "pleasure" in them.   What a remarkable Christians he was.
